Journal ArticleDOI
Sentinel node biopsy in head and neck squamous cell cancer: 5-year follow-up of a European multicenter trial
Lee W. T. Alkureishi,Gary L Ross,Taimur Shoaib,David S. Soutar,A. Gerry Robertson,Richard C. Thompson,Keith D. Hunter,Jens Ahm Sørensen,Jørn Bo Thomsen,Annelise Krogdahl,J. Alvarez,Luis Barbier,Joseba Santamaria,Tito Poli,Enrico Sesenna,Adorján F. Kovács,Frank Grünwald,Luigi Barzan,Sandro Sulfaro,Franco Alberti +19 more
TL;DR: Sentinel node biopsy is a reliable and reproducible means of staging the clinically N0 neck for patients with cT1/T2 HNSCC, and can be used as the sole staging tool for the majority of these patients, but cannot currently be recommended for Patients with tumors in the floor of the mouth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sentinel node biopsy in head and neck cancer: preliminary results of a multicenter trial.
G. L. Ross,David S. Soutar,D. Gordon MacDonald,Taimur Shoaib,Ivan G. Camilleri,Andrew G Roberton,Jens Ahm Sørensen,Jørn Bo Thomsen,Peter Grupe,J. Alvarez,Luis Barbier,Joseba Santamaria,Tito Poli,Olindo Massarelli,Enrico Sesenna,Adorján F. Kovács,Frank Grünwald,Luigi Barzan,Sandro Sulfaro,Franco Alberti +19 more
TL;DR: SNB can be successfully applied to early T1/2 tumors of the oral cavity/oropharynx in a standardized fashion by centers worldwide and can be used alone as a staging tool.
Journal Article
Three discrete regions of deletion at 3p in head and neck cancers.
Roberta Maestro,Daniela Gasparotto,Tamara Vukosavljevic,Luigi Barzan,Sandro Sulfaro,Mauro Boiocchi +5 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that at least three oncosuppressor genes mapping on 3p may be involved in head and neck cancer development and support a common oncogenic pathway with squamous cell lung cancer, for which a similar pattern of 3p deletion has been described recently.
Journal Article
Overexpression of CDC25A and CDC25B in head and neck cancers.
Daniela Gasparotto,Roberta Maestro,Sara Piccinin,Tamara Vukosavljevic,Luigi Barzan,Sandro Sulfaro,Mauro Boiocchi +6 more
TL;DR: The expression of CDC25A, CDC25B, and CDC25C genes in 20 squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck are analyzed by quantitative reverse transcription-PCR on the basis of the evidence that CDC25 phosphatases can act as oncogenes.
Journal Article
Chromosome 13q deletion mapping in head and neck squamous cell carcinomas : identification of two distinct regions of preferential loss
Roberta Maestro,Sara Piccinin,Claudio Doglioni,Daniela Gasparotto,Tamara Vukosavljevic,Sandro Sulfaro,Luigi Barzan,Mauro Boiocchi +7 more
TL;DR: The data suggest the existence of two new tumor suppressor genes (one close to and one distal to RB), which play a role in the development and/or progression of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas.
