Sovereign credit ratings, relative risk ratings and private capital flows: evidence from emerging and frontier markets

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the influence of relative risk ratings on private capital flows to emerging and frontier market economies and found that while absolute sovereign credit ratings were an important determinant of net capital inflows prior to the global financial crisis in 2008, the influence increased in the post-crisis period.

Outlook for Remittance Flows 2011-12 : Recovery After the Crisis, But Risks Lie Ahead

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that a high level of unemployment in the migrant-receiving countries has prompted restrictions on new immigration; the application of mobile phone technology for domestic remittances has failed to spread to cross-border remittance; and developing countries are becoming more aware of the potential for leveraging remittance and diaspora wealth for raising development finance.
