The invention relates to a beverage maker, which comprises a container ( 10 ) that is open at the top thereof and a lid ( 20 ) that covers the container. A removal opening ( 29 ) is formed in the lid. A vertical actuation rod ( 41 ) passes through the lid. Inside the container, a preparing element ( 42 ), for example, a mixing element, is attached to the actuation rod. Outside the container, a grip element ( 45 ) is attached to the actuation rod. The grip element can be moved together with the actuation rod between a lower position and an upper position. A closure ( 30 ) can be swiveled about a horizontal swivel axis between a closed position that doses the removal opening and a retaining position that releases the removal opening, wherein in the retaining position, the closure fixes the grip element in the lower position thereof. The actuation rod is thereby effectively prevented from sliding out through the removal opening when the beverage is removed.

The invention provides apparatus and methods for delivery of health care, e.g., in-home or at central care facilities, that gather subjective and objective measures of patient health and treatment, analyzing them (e.g., correlating them with one another and/or with norms) and reporting them to aid in on-going patient diagnosis and treatment (both on acute and chronic bases), as well as to aid physicians, nurses and other caregivers in decision support, monitoring treatment compliance, facilitating regulatory compliance, billing, and so forth. Thus, for example, in some aspects a health care delivery device comprising a medical treatment apparatus, such as a hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis unit, that is coupled to a processor. The processor generates patient queries in connection with treatments rendered by the dialysis equipment (or other treatment apparatus). Further aspects of the invention provide a health care delivery system, e.g., as described above in which a digital data processing system is coupled to a plurality of health care delivery devices (e.g., via the Internet, etc.), which can disposed in treatment centers ranging from patient homes to commercial health care facilities such as hospitals, dialysis centers and so forth. Reporting functionality can, instead of or in addition to identifying (and reporting on) discrepancies in the raw and/or analyzed data from the delivery devices, infer (and report) on possible causes of those discrepancies and, in some aspects of the invention, remedy those causes, thereby, providing automated operations support for the treatment centers.

The cup includes a flexible straw attached to the base of the cup, a lid, and a handle with a groove for receiving and storing the straw. A bight actuated mouthpiece valve is connected to the distal end of the straw. The cup may be of double walled construction and the lid includes a small hole to release any vacuum created as a user sucks on the straw.

A mixing system and method may be used to facilitate mixture of ingredients within a container such as a bottle for mixing fitness and recreational beverages and the like. The mixing system may include a mixing apparatus with a container engagement component that couples the mixing system to the container, and a mixing component that mixes the ingredients. The mixing component may have a shaft, a plurality of rotatable mixing members that are rotatable about the shaft, and a plurality of stationary mixing members that are fixedly secured to the shaft. The mixing members may be arranged to contact the ingredients in a manner that facilitates mixture of the ingredients together, in response to repetitive motion of the container.

A container having a removable lid, a hollow interior for storing contents, and a stirring assembly. The stirring assembly includes a rotatable wheel mounted to an outside portion of the removable lid and a shaft extending into the hollow interior of the container. The rotatable wheel is manually rotatable about a first axis of rotation. The shaft is rotatable by the wheel. When the wheel is rotated about the first axis of rotation, the wheel rotates the shaft about a second axis of rotation. At least one paddle extends outwardly from the shaft into the hollow interior of the container and stirs or agitates the contents of the container when the rotation of the shaft about the second axis of rotation rotates the at least one paddle inside the hollow interior of the container.
