TL;DR: Project-based learning taps into students' interests by allowing them to create projects that result in meaningful learning experiences as mentioned in this paper, which requires teachers to identify projects that challenge students to work individually or in groups to create plans, solve problems they encounter, test their ideas, and present their projects to peers.

Faculty Perceptions and Use of Experiential Learning In Higher Education

TL;DR: The authors surveyed faculty on their use of and views regarding experiential learning across US institutions focusing on undergraduate teaching and found that the dominant obstacles to using experiencial approaches were classroom structure, class size is too large, not enough time, dif cult to cover all the curriculum, and faculty resistance.
