Journal ArticleDOI
Tree stem methane emissions from subtropical lowland forest (Melaleuca quinquenervia) regulated by local and seasonal hydrology
TL;DR: In this article, the first ever quantification of tree stem methane emissions from Melaleuca quinquenervia, a widespread iconic Australian lowland tree and globally invasive species, was presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rainfall drives rapid shifts in carbon and nutrient source-sink dynamics of an urbanised, mangrove-fringed estuary
Gloria Maria Susanne Reithmaier,Xiaogang Chen,Xiaogang Chen,Isaac R. Santos,Isaac R. Santos,Michael Drexl,Ceylena Holloway,Ceylena Holloway,Mitchell Call,Paula Alvarez,Sebastian Euler,Damien T. Maher +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the short-term effect of episodic rainfall on alkalinity, dissolved carbon and nutrient biogeochemistry in a small, urbanised and mangrove-fringed estuary was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shifts in methanogenic archaea communities and methane dynamics along a subtropical estuarine land use gradient.
TL;DR: Overall, this study showed that ecological niches in anthropogenically altered environments appear to give an advantage to specialized prokaryotes invoking a potential change in the thermodynamic landscape of the ecosystem and in turn facilitating the generation of methane–a potent greenhouse gas.
