Journal ArticleDOI
Increase of NK Cells and Proinflammatory Monocytes Are Associated with the Clinical Improvement of Diffuse Cutaneous Leishmaniasis after Immunochemotherapy with BCG/Leishmania Antigens
Ledice Inácia de Araújo Pereira,Miriam Leandro Dorta,Ana Joaquina Cohen Serique Pereira,Rosidete Pereira de Bastos,Milton Adriano Pelli de Oliveira,Sebastião Alves Pinto,Hélio Galdino,Wilson Mayrink,Warly Barcelos,Vicente de Paulo Coelho Peixoto de Toledo,Glória Maria Collet de Araujo Lima,Fátima Ribeiro-Dias +11 more
TL;DR: An association between the increase of the frequency of innate immune system cells and the healing of lesions is shown, suggesting that this protocol of immunotherapy reduced the parasite load and activated NK cells and monocytes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interleukin 32γ (IL-32γ) is highly expressed in cutaneous and mucosal lesions of American Tegumentary Leishmaniasis patients: association with tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and IL-10
Hélio Galdino,Anetícia Eduarda Maldaner,Lívia Lara Pessoni,Frederico Marianetti Soriani,Ledice Inácia de Araújo Pereira,Sebastião Alves Pinto,Fernanda Bugalho Duarte,Clayson Moura Gomes,Anna Karoline Aguiar Fleuri,Miriam Leandro Dorta,Milton Adriano Pelli de Oliveira,Mauro M. Teixeira,Aline Carvalho Batista,Leo A. B. Joosten,Leda Quercia Vieira,Fátima Ribeiro-Dias +15 more
TL;DR: Evaluation of the expression of IL-32 in cutaneous and mucosal lesions as well as in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) exposed to Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis suggests that IL- 32 plays a major role in the inflammatory process caused by L. (Vannia) sp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leishmania spp. parasite isolation through inoculation of patient biopsy macerates in interferon gamma knockout mice
Milton Adriano Pelli de Oliveira,Alause da Silva Pires,Rosidete Pereira de Bastos,Glória Maria Collet de Araujo Lima,Sebastião Alves Pinto,Ledice Inácia de Araújo Pereira,Ana Joaquina Cohen Serique Pereira,Ises de Almeida Abrahamsohn,Miriam Leandro Dorta,Fátima Ribeiro-Dias +9 more
TL;DR: The use of IFNgamma KO mice with biopsy macerates from Leishmania-infected patients is tested to improve the possibility to isolate New World Leishmaniasis species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leishmania braziliensis amastigotes stimulate production of IL‐1β, IL‐6, IL‐10 and TGF‐β by peripheral blood mononuclear cells from nonendemic area healthy residents
Clayson Moura Gomes,Lucilla Ribeiro Ávila,Sebastião Alves Pinto,F. B. Duarte,Ledice Inácia de Araújo Pereira,Ises de Almeida Abrahamsohn,Miriam Leandro Dorta,Leda Quercia Vieira,Fátima Ribeiro-Dias,Milton Adriano Pelli de Oliveira +9 more
TL;DR: These data demonstrate for the first time that L. (V.) braziliensis amastigotes directly stimulate production of a unique pattern of cytokines that could contribute to the generation of Th17.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomized, open, controlled trial of tretinoin 0.05% cream vs. low-dose oral isotretinoin for the treatment of field cancerization.
TL;DR: Clinical, histological, and immunohistochemical effects of oral and topical retinoid for AKs and field cancerization on face and upper limbs of immunocompetent patients, as well as the impact on quality of life, safety, and tolerability are compared.
