Journal ArticleDOI
EAT1 transcription factor, a non-cell-autonomous regulator of pollen production, activates meiotic small RNA biogenesis in rice anther tapetum.
Seijiro Ono,Hua Liu,Katsutoshi Tsuda,Katsutoshi Tsuda,Eigo Fukai,Keisuke Tanaka,Takuji Sasaki,Ken-Ichi Nonomura,Ken-Ichi Nonomura +8 more
TL;DR: This study indicates that EAT1 is one of key regulators triggering meiotic phasiRNA biogenesis in anther tapetum, and that other bHLH proteins, TIP2 and UDT1, also play some important roles in this process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Essential roles of autophagy in metabolic regulation in endosperm development during rice seed maturation.
Yuri Sera,Shigeru Hanamata,Shigeru Hanamata,Shingo Sakamoto,Seijiro Ono,Kentaro Kaneko,Yuudai Mitsui,Tomoko Koyano,Naoko Fujita,Ai Sasou,Takehiro Masumura,Hikaru Saji,Ken Ichi Nonomura,Nobutaka Mitsuda,Toshiaki Mitsui,Takamitsu Kurusu,Takamitsu Kurusu,Kazuyuki Kuchitsu +17 more
TL;DR: It is found that seeds of the rice autophagy-deficient mutant Osatg7-1, that produces seeds at a very low frequency in paddy fields, are smaller and show chalky appearance and lower starch content in the endosperm at the mature stage under normal growth condition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Agrobacterium-Mediated Genetic Transformation of Wild Oryza Species Using Immature Embryos.
Sae Shimizu-Sato,Katsutoshi Tsuda,Misuzu Nosaka-Takahashi,Toshiya Suzuki,Seijiro Ono,Kim Nhung Ta,Yuri Yoshida,Ken-Ichi Nonomura,Yutaka Sato +8 more
TL;DR: Results show that many Oryza species can be transformed by using modified immature-embryo methods, which will accelerate the use of wild Oryzo accessions in molecular genetic analyses and molecular breeding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Autophagy on Gene Expression and Tapetal Programmed Cell Death During Pollen Development in Rice
Shigeru Hanamata,Jumpei Sawada,Seijiro Ono,Kazunori Ogawa,Togo Fukunaga,Ken Ichi Nonomura,Seisuke Kimura,Takamitsu Kurusu,Kazuyuki Kuchitsu +8 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that autophagy is required for proper regulation of gene expression and quality control of organelle-related genes as well as genes involved in carbohydrate/lipid metabolism and timely progression of tapetal PCD during rice pollen development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic transmission of Solanum demissum (2n=6x=72) chromosomes from a pentaploid hybrid of S. tuberosum (2n=4x=48) into the aneuploid BC1 progeny
TL;DR: The S. demissum genome map will be useful in analyzing intra-locus interaction of qualitative and quantitative traits among homoeologous chromosomes and analyzing allelic variation of homeolog expression.
