Measurement of the Component Flows in a Vertical Two-Phase Flow by Making Use of the Pressure Fluctuation : Part 1,Proposal of a Characteristic Number

TL;DR: In this paper, a JIS orifice was fitted at the outlet of a vertical 1 inch bore pipe through which the airwater mixture flowed upward, and the pressure at a point immediately before the orifice recorded and analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of the Component Flows in a Vertical Two-Phase Flow by Making Use of the Pressure Fluctuation : Part 2, The Flow Model for the Slug-Flow and Its Application

TL;DR: In this article, a simple flow model was proposed, by means of which the quantities defined in the previous report were theoretically correlated, and it was proved that the actual slug flow could be fundamentally represented by the proposed flow model.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Pressure-Generating Effect of Heat Absorption and Feedwater Flow in Boilers

TL;DR: In this article, it is proved that the boiler pressure increases or decreases by manipulations that tend to increase or decrease the total volume of contained water in evaporators as well as in superheaters and reheaters, and that the transfer function from the heat absorption to the steam pressure is mainly affected by the fluid-volume increase in the section devided by the outgoing (and not by the incoming) fluid volume.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distribution of the Intensity of Heat-Absorption of Water-Walls in Burner-Fired Boiler-Furnaces

TL;DR: In this article, the coefficients which give the correct beam length are presented graphically, and they are used to derive an improved method of calculating heat-absorption in boiler-furnaces.
