A system of rotate-to-advance medical devices including catheters, dilators, occluders, stents, suprapubic catheters and camera introducers configured with external screw threads and depending substantially on rotation for means of advancement and emplacement in mammalian genitourinary and gastrointestinal passages and organs.

Rotate-to-advance catheterization system

A surgical instrument, such as an endoscopic or laparoscopic instrument, includes an ablation device. The ablation device includes an elongate relatively flexible member having a proximal end and a distal end, the flexible member includes at least a first working channel. A first and second electrode extends from a working channel at the distal end of the flexible member. The first and second electrodes are adapted to be endoscopically located in a tissue treatment region. The first and second electrodes are adapted to couple to an electrical waveform generator to receive an irreversible electroporation electrical waveform sufficient to ablate tissue located between the first and second electrodes. The waveform parameters of the irreversible electroporation electrical waveform are determined based on image information received from the tissue treatment region.

Electroporation ablation apparatus, system, and method

An electrical ablation apparatus comprises first and second electrodes. Each electrode comprises a first end configured to couple an energy source and a second end configured to couple to a tissue treatment region. An energy source is coupled to the first and second electrodes. The energy source is configured to deliver a first series of electrical pulses sufficient to induce cell necrosis by irreversible electroporation and a second series of electrical pulses sufficient to induce cell necrosis by thermal heating, through at least one of the first and second electrodes. The first series of electrical pulses is characterized by a first amplitude, a first pulse length, and a first frequency. The second series of electrical pulses is characterized by a second amplitude, a second pulse length, and a second frequency.

Electrical ablation devices

A method is provided for depositing a gate dielectric that includes at least two rare earth, metal elements in the form of an oxynitride or an aluminum oxynitride. The method includes disposing a substrate (25, 92) in a process chamber (10) and exposing the substrate (25, 92) to a gas pulse containing a first rare earth precursor and to a gas pulse containing a second rare earth precursor. The substrate (25, 92) may also optionally be exposed to a gas pulse containing an aluminum precursor. Sequentially after each precursor gas pulse, the substrate (25, 92) is exposed to a gas pulse of an oxygen-containing gas, nitrogen-containing gas or an oxygen- and nitrogen-containing gas. In alternative embodiments, the first and second rare earth precursors may be pulsed together, and either or both, may be pulsed together with the aluminum precursor. The first and second rare earth precursors comprise a different rare earth metal element. The sequential exposing steps may be repeated to deposit a mixed rare earth oxynitride or aluminum oxynitride layer (96) with a desired thickness. Purge or evacuation steps may also be performed after each gas pulse.

A surgical system for performing a surgical procedure includes an ex-vivo positioning mechanism and an in-vivo instrument magnetically attracted to the ex-vivo positioning mechanism. The in-vivo instrument can be positioned within a patient by moving the ex-vivo positioning mechanism. In addition, the surgical system includes a percutaneous member introducible into the patient independent from the ex-vivo positioning mechanism, the percutaneous member comprising a connector at a distal end thereof, wherein the connector is selectively couplable to the in-vivo instrument within the patient.

System for performing a minimally invasive surgical procedure

An endoscope system includes a first endoscope that includes a first distal end portion, a first observation window provided at the first distal end portion, a first objective optical system optically coupled to the first observation window and having a first viewing angle, and a first treatment instrument channel opening positioned at a first distance away from the first observation window; and a second endoscope that includes a second distal end portion, a second observation window provided at the second distal end portion, a second objective optical system optically coupled to the second observation window and having a second viewing angle wider than the first viewing angle, and a second treatment instrument channel opening positioned at a second distance longer than the first distance.

An endoscopic insertion aid (14) includes a hollow member (62) having a communication path which provides communication between openings at the distal and proximal ends thereof. The hollow member includes a hollow member, an exposure portion and a guide portion. The hollow member insertion portion is inserted into a body cavity, having distal and proximal ends. The exposure portion is provided at the proximal end of the hollow member insertion portion and is exposed outside the body. The guide portion is provided in at least the exposure portion of the hollow member insertion portion and the exposure portion. The guide portion allows a distal end (32) of an insertion section (22) of an endoscope (12) to pass through the communication path laterally from the hollow member (62) and project from the opening at the distal end of the hollow member.

Endoscopic insertion aid

An endoscope and a tip cover capable of securing a sufficient illuminating area for an imaging area with wide visual field and suppressing the lowering of the suction force of a suction port communicating with a suction channel. In the endoscope, a tapered surface tilted rearward roughly about an observation window for observing an object image is formed at the tip thereof, and at least an illuminating window emitting an illumination light for illuminating the object and the suction port communicating with the suction channel are opened in the tapered surface. The inclination angle of the tapered surface with the suction port relative to the tip surface thereof with the observation window is formed sharper than the inclination angle of the tapered surface with the illumination window relative to the tip surface thereof with the observation window.

Endoscope and tip cover

An endoscopic insertion aid (14) includes a tube member (62), a pipeline (68, 70) and a plurality of balloons (66a, 66b, 66c). The tube member allows an insertion section (32) of an endoscope (12) to be inserted therethrough, and guides the longitudinal movement of the insertion section. The pipeline is provided in the tube member, and communicates with a supply/discharge unit (22) to supply a fluid to or discharge the fluid from the distal end of the tube member. The balloons are disposed on the outer periphery of the distal end of the tube member longitudinally along the tube member, communicate with the pipeline, and inflate/deflate in accordance with the supply/discharge of the fluid via the pipeline. The balloon (66a) disposed on the distal side of the tube member is inflated to have an outside diameter larger than that of the balloon (66c) disposed closer to the proximal side than the balloon disposed on the distal side when the balloons are inflated.

Endoscopic insertion aid and endoscopic system

An endoscopic insertion aid includes a tube member, a pipeline and a plurality of balloons. The tube member allows an insertion section of an endoscope to be inserted therethrough, and guides the longitudinal movement of the insertion section. The pipeline is provided in the tube member, and communicates with a supply/discharge unit to supply a fluid to or discharge the fluid from the distal end of the tube member. The balloons are disposed on the outer periphery of the distal end of the tube member longitudinally along the tube member, communicate with the pipeline, and inflate/deflate in accordance with the supply/discharge of the fluid via the pipeline. The balloon disposed on the distal side of the tube member is inflated to have an outside diameter larger than that of the balloon disposed closer to the proximal side than the balloon disposed on the distal side when the balloons are inflated.
