In one embodiment, an automotive vehicle is disclosed having a vehicle body with a first pillar, a second pillar, a roof member and a floor member defining a door opening therebetween. A lateral side entry door is pivotally connected to the vehicle body for enclosing the door opening. The side entry door moves along an operating path having a closed position and an open position. The vehicle has a motor and a lead screw mounted in the side entry door and connected to the motor to be driven by the motor. The vehicle has a link connected to the lead screw and connected to the vehicle body adjacent to the door opening. The motor drives the lead screw to translate the link to open and close the side entry door.

An opening/closing system for vehicle can improve detection accuracy of rotation of an output member and enhance reliability of its operation. The opening/closing system for vehicle includes a drive unit having an electric motor and a reduction gear unit. A drum, which is an output member, is fixed to the output shaft of the drive unit through a power transmittable member. A magnet fixed to the outer periphery of a disk member is disposed between the drum and the gear case of the reduction gear unit in such a way that the magnet rotates along with the drum when the disk member is fixed to the power transmittable member. A housing case fixed to the gear case is provided with a sensor accommodating section that accommodates a magnetic sensor. The magnetic sensor is disposed to detect the rotation of the drum from a change in a magnetic field created by the magnet.

Outer casings 36 and 37 for guiding cables 31 and 32 are provided between the drive unit 33 and a pulley unit. Additionally, a stopper unit 70 is detachably assembled to the outside of the tensioner case 56a of the closing-side tensioner mechanism 55a. The stopper unit 70 makes one end of the closing-side outer casing 36 movable in the arrangement of the cables 31 and 32 so as to enable the sufficient securement of amount of pulling out the cables 31 and 32 from the outer casings 36 and 37. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the operability of a clutch device by keeping a connected state or an interrupted state, even if an operation part is not operated continuously. SOLUTION: A sliding door 14 is provided with a drum 27, around which a cable 23 fixed to a vehicle body is laid, and an electric motor 34 which rotatively drives the drum 27 so that the sliding door 14 can make an opening/closing motion. A clutch device 41 is provided between the drum 27 and the electric motor 34. The clutch device 41 is provided with a driving-side disc and a driven-side disc, which are provided in such a manner as to be freely engaged/disengaged in the axial direction, and an index plate 44 for axially driving the driving-side disc is provided on an upside case 18a. The index plate 44 is driven by a switching mechanism 61 and turned by each predetermined angle; the driving-side disc is axially driven each time the index plate is turned by the predetermined angle; and the clutch device 41 alternately switches between the connected state and the interrupted state.
