TL;DR: In this small pilot project, paramedic initiated buprenorphine in the setting of data sharing and linkage with treatment appears to be a safe intervention with a high rate of ongoing outpatient treatment for risk of fatal opioid overdoses.

TL;DR: A 41-year-old Guatemalan woman with a history of remote uterine cancer presented to an urban community Emergency Department complaining of a pruritic, initially painful rash on her chest, eyelids, thighs, and elbows, and was presumptively diagnosed with dermatomyositis and started on a course of Prednisone.
