Effects of the friction coefficient on the minimum cutting thickness in micro cutting

TL;DR: In this paper, the relationship between the friction of a tool-workpiece and the minimum cutting thickness in micro cutting was investigated and an ultra-precision cutting model was proposed in which the tool edge radius and the friction coefficient were the principal factors determining the minimum cut thickness with a continuous chip.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influences of pulsed power condition on the machining properties in micro EDM

TL;DR: In this paper, the influences of EDM pulse condition on the micro-EDM properties were investigated and the experimental results showed that the voltage and current of the pulse exert strongly to the machining properties and the shorter EDM pulses are more efficient to make a precision part with a higher material removal rate.
Journal Article

Burr and Shape Distortion in Micro-Grooving of Non-Ferrous Metals Using a Diamond tool

TL;DR: In this article, a simplified model based on large thrust force due to the tool edge radius was proposed for micro-grooving, and experiments were conducted with a single crystal diamond tool on a 3-axis shaper-like machine varying the depth of cuts, and groove angles.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Study on Critical Depth of Cuts in Micro Grooving

TL;DR: In this paper, the micro machinability near the critical depth of cut is investigated in micro grooving with a diamond tool, and the experimental results show the characteristics of micro-cutting in terms of cutting force ratio (Fx/Fy), chip shape, surface roughness, and surface hardening.
