Journal ArticleDOI
Spin-galvanic effect
Sergey Ganichev,E. L. Ivchenko,Vassilij Belkov,Sergey Tarasenko,M. Sollinger,Dieter Weiss,Werner Wegscheider,Werner Wegscheider,Wilhelm Prettl +8 more
TL;DR: In contrast to previous experiments, where spin-polarized currents were driven by electric fields in semiconductor, the complementary situation where electron spins drive a current without the need of an external electric field is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spin photocurrents in quantum wells
Sergey Ganichev,Wilhelm Prettl +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the spin polarization of uniformly distributed electrons causes a directed motion of electrons in the plane of the QW. But the effect of spin polarization on the motion of the electrons was not investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Conversion of spin into directed electric current in quantum wells.
Sergey Ganichev,Eougenious Ivchenko,Sergey Danilov,Jonathan Eroms,Werner Wegscheider,Dieter Weiss,Wilhelm Prettl +6 more
TL;DR: A microscopic model is presented which describes the origin of the photon helicity driven current and suggests that the system behaves as a battery which generates a spin polarized current.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental Separation of Rashba and Dresselhaus Spin-Splittings in Semiconductor Quantum Wells
Sergey Ganichev,Sergey Ganichev,Vasily V. Bel'kov,Leonid Golub,E. L. Ivchenko,Petra Schneider,Stephan Giglberger,Jonathan Eroms,J. De Boeck,Gustaaf Borghs,Werner Wegscheider,Dieter Weiss,Wilhelm Prettl +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the relative strengths of Rashba and Dresselhaus terms describing spin-orbit coupling in semiconductor quantum well (QW) structures are extracted from photocurrent measurements on n-type InAs QWs containing a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG).
Book
Intense terahertz excitation of semiconductors
Sergey Ganichev,Wilhelm Prettl +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an experimental technique for tunneling in terahertz fields and a method for multi-photon excitation beyond the Perturbation Limit.
