In recent years, enterprise service bus (ESB) has become a favorable adoption as a technology category in the IT industry as it provides secure and guaranteed delivery of services. The elasticity of Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) enables numerous applications to exchange information makes it a significant middleware layer responsible for transferring information in a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). ESB is presently the utmost promising tactic for the integration of business applications in distributed and diverse environments. It also offers essential infrastructure support for transforming messages or data, intelligent routing, and protocol transformation. The idea of ESBs emerged from the requirements to move out from traditional integration patterns, that becomes difficult to manage with the passage of time. Our study aim is to understand and provide ongoing research topics, challenges and future directions concerning ESB applications. A systematic mapping study (SMS) is therefore implemented to categorize the selected papers into the following classification: contribution type, ESB applications, research type and their approaches. We have extracted a total of twenty-two papers for this systematic study and they are classified according to defined criteria. The findings of this SMS are discussed and researchers were provided with suggestions on possible directions for future research.

Research Trends in Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Applications: A Systematic Mapping Study

Cultural heritage information, stored increasingly in a digital form in cultural institutions such as museums, archives, and specialized libraries is being used for several applications and by several actors, from public policy, tourism, app developers and software companies, schools and the general public at large. Due to the proliferation of digital cultural content sources there has been a boom in applications, and cultural heritage is seen as a valuable asset for tourism, culture, education and entertainment. The information from those sources must be format independent, multi-lingual to attract a global audience, multi-purpose, and make use of standards, norms and national and international recommendations in order to fulfill different requirements of a diverse range of users, essentially mobile. The authors describe an inventory and content management system and the conceptual and architectural choices that were made to allow its evolution, standards' compliance and multi-purpose use as a cultural data provider. This article also describes current metadata efforts, metadata formats and ontologies specific to the cultural heritage domain and how they have been used to face the current challenges in this area such as providing engaging user experiences.

Semantic Approaches for the Use of Cultural Data

The problem of data flooding is becoming more and more important, and it is necessary to find a way to access relevant information and to collect information and data from different data sources. In the field of cultural heritage, users need to be able to find and extract information from databases of specific contexts (paintings, inscriptions, churches, old coins, etc.). The problem is that each of these databases has a different data model. A project created to solve this problem is Europeana, which aims to bring together data from different providers (museums, libraries or other entities) in a single dataset. This paper aims to propose an architecture for a heterogeneous data sources system for the integration of structured/semi-structured data sources, enabling the information content to be more accessible and searchable for users. The data integration model proposed in this paper aims to exploit the method of "schema matching", using ontology-based data integration techniques by automating the integration process.
