Entrepreneurship education is growing worldwide, but key educational and didactical issues remain. What are we talking about when we talk about entrepreneurship education? What are we really doing when we teach or educate people in entrepreneurship, in terms of the nature and the impact of our interventions? What do we know about the appropriateness, the relevancy, the coherency, the social usefulness and the efficiency of our initiatives and practices in entrepreneurship education? Addressing these issues and challenges, this article suggests that at least two major evolutions might reinforce the future of entrepreneurship education. First, we need strong intellectual and conceptual foundations, drawing from the fields of entrepreneurship and education, to strengthen our entrepreneurship courses. And finally, we also need to deeply reflect on our practices, as researchers and educators, taking a more critical stance toward a too often adopted “taken for granted” position.

Personal views on the future of entrepreneurship education

Nowadays remote access to systems in the instrumentation and measurement fields is both a reality and a challenge. There is a growing interest in replacing manual actions performed on site by remote actions carried out from anywhere around the world. To do that, besides the availability of suitable communication networks, it is necessary for the elements involved in the network to recognize each other, this latter task perhaps being the most complex one of the two. Integrating different hardware/software from different manufacturers into a single system with controlled remote access is not a trivial task. This paper presents a fully integrated open solution for the operation of pilot plants (scaled down, laboratory level industrial plants operated in university and other environments) using open access hardware/software on public networks. The proposed solution is independent of the nature of the pilot plant and its elements and can therefore be considered standard. In order to illustrate the capabilities of the proposed solution, two different types of pilot plant are presented.

A Fully Integrated Open Solution for the Remote Operation of Pilot Plants

Wine producers in Portugal have begun to see tourism as an opportunity to diversify their profit margins. With the growing importance of enology universities have established greater research into the subject and to organize the existing bibliography. Thus, this paper presents a panorama of the articles on wine tourism 2003 to 2018 with a critical analysis of characteristics and trends in the Portuguese context. The literature review covers all the completed publications in English, Portuguese and Spanish in journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, Scielo and Spell. A total of 36 articles were examined after eliminating duplicates, dissertations and theses. The main conclusions are that wineries tend to be organized by routes with scant literature relating to other routes and wine regions outside Portugal.

Progress and prospects for research of Wine Tourism in Portugal

In the last three years, e-lab a real laboratory remotely controlled via the internet, has been an important educational resource in basic and secondary Portuguese schools in subjects like Physics and Chemistry. Since a pilot study performed in late 2009 that e-lab platform is being used in and outside the classroom contributing to increase students' motivation and interest toward scientific subjects. Currently, the e-lab team is interested in performing remote chemistry experiments, which are more difficult to execute in this kind of environment. At this time, the challenge is to create an experiment focused in a chemical equilibrium reaction.

The wine sector involves several stakeholders in its several dimensions and attract numerous consumers and curious from the more diverse segments. In these frameworks the historical records of wine play a relevant role, namely, to promote the wine as something more than a good and to create identity. In this perspective, the research here present makes a literature survey, considering 39 documents obtained from the Web of Science (all databases) related with the following topic: old wine world history. These documents were first analysed through the Atlas.ti software. This literature review shows the richness of the history related with the wine that for some studies started on the Neolithic and stresses the role of the Romans to spread the vineyards across the Europe.

Historical records of wine: Highlighting the old wine world

The case study explores the growth and regional involvement of Douro SkinCare [1] , a company created by women that operates in the field of selective Biological Cosmetics through the creation, development and production of cosmetic lines that are based on emblematic raw materials of the Douro Region, one of the oldest wine-growing areas with more history in the world, located in the north of our country, Portugal. It uses Douro grapes and PORT WINE DNA ™ (Douro Nuclear Aroma), created from the first port wine from entirely organic production to develop cosmetic lines produced with endogenous products. The territorial intensive products (TIP) are associated directly with the region and are intensively endogenous. TIPs are indirectly related with local tourism as a trademark. This case study uses a qualitative methodology, based on YIN (1998) to select and analyse information collected by the interviewers and other secondary information sources. This case illustrates how a brand can contribute for regional development and expansion by a small female business. It also highlights the role of the entrepreneurs in introducing modernity, innovation and product diversification to allow such a small firm to reach new markets. This research could bring new insights and relevant proposals to the relation between TIPs, female entrepreneurship, tourism and regional development. Additionally, by utilizing grapes and/or wine and other derived products produced from vines grown completely organically in the Douro region in northern Portugal, the firm has contributed significantly to create awareness about the sustainability of this natural resource and the region itself. This paper analyses the implementation of the Youth Start – Entrepreneurial Challenges project1 on the learning outcomes of the students regarding their entrepreneurial skills and measures the influence of the project in teaching practice. This project promotes experiential learning programmes at the compulsory school level by developing an innovative, transferable and scalable programme through the collaboration of the high-level educational public authorities of Austria, Luxembourg, Portugal and Slovenia. The Youth Start learning programme’s modules promote the development of cognitive and non-cognitive entrepreneurial skills and abilities as well as foster a culture of responsibility and enterprise. The learning programme is hypothesised to increase desirability and feasibility of students to be entrepreneurial. In addition, it is also believed that student participants will find schoolwork more enjoyable and meaningful and that the programme will increase their motivation to learn and engage in school activities. To test whether or not the hypotheses are supported we will analyse to which extent the participants develop entrepreneurial self-efficacy, entrepreneurial intentions, entrepreneurial attitudes and entrepreneurial mindsets. The primary target group in this three-year project are teenagers aged 14 to 17, who are reached through three large-scale interventions. Through the leadership of the ministries of education from the participating countries, the programme was extended to primary schools (students aged 8 to 11). A quasi-experimental design utilising an ex-ante and ex-post approach as well as randomised experimental groups are used to evaluate the effects on students from the secondary education level and from the second cycle of basic education (ages 10 to 11), but the focus of this paper is analysing qualitative data through in-depth interviews with Portuguese educators from different teaching education levels. This qualitative research is intended to better understand the effects of the quantitative data that the project involves and observe the impact of Youth Start programme in Portugal.
