Journal ArticleDOI
Low plasma apelin levels in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus.
TL;DR: Plasma apelin is reduced in newly diagnosed and untreated patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus having no confounders and Regulation of circulating apelin and adiponectin seems to be in the same manner in patients with T2DM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vaspin and its correlation with insulin sensitivity indices in obese children.
TL;DR: Higher vaspin and lower adiponectin levels in obese children and these adipokines were significantly correlated with insulin sensitivity indices in this age.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of pioglitazone and metformin on plasma visfatin levels in patients with treatment naive type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Gokhan Erdem,Teoman Dogru,Ilker Tasci,Ergun Bozoglu,Ozlem Muhsiroglu,Serkan Tapan,Cemal Nuri Ercin,Alper Sonmez +7 more
TL;DR: Despite improvements in insulin sensitivity and glycemic regulation, either pioglitazone or metformin treatment did not result in any effect on blood visfatin levels in patients with treatment naïve T2DM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decreased plasma apelin levels in pubertal obese children.
TL;DR: The results of the present study indicate that plasma apelin levels are lower in child obesity and pubertal state is an important determinant of plasma Apelin levels.
Journal Article
Evaluation of adipocytokines in obese children with insulin resistance.
Mehmet Emre Tascilar,Ferhat Cekmez,Cihan Meral,Ozgur Pirgon,Ilhan Asya Tanju,Fuat Emre Canpolat,Ayhan Abaci,Serkan Tapan,İbrahim Eker +8 more
TL;DR: Visfatin and adiponectin levels can be used as specific markers for insulin sensitivity in obese children and can be correlated positively and negatively with body mass index standard deviation score and HOMA-IR, respectively.
