Journal ArticleDOI

Biosynthesis of dicarboxylic acids by carbon dioxide fixation. IV. Isolation and properties of an adaptive "malic" enzyme from Lactobacillus arabinosus.

TL;DR: The evidence presented below supports the view that Reaction 1 is a DPN-linked dismutation between Z-malate and pyruvate, resulting from the interaction of lactic dehydrogenase with aDPN-specific “malic” enzyme as shown by Reactions 3 and 4.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enzymatic synthesis of citrate from pyruvate and oxalacetate.

TL;DR: In the absence of orthophosphate, the reaction-rate is sharply reduced and no acetyl phosphate accumulates, and it is possible that the compound may be a coenzyme form of the factor of O'Kane and Gunsalus required for oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate by S. fæcalis cells.
