Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma visfatin levels in patients with newly diagnosed and untreated type 2 diabetes mellitus and impaired glucose tolerance.
Teoman Dogru,Alper Sonmez,Ilker Tasci,Ergun Bozoglu,Mahmut Ilker Yilmaz,Halil Genc,Gokhan Erdem,Mahmut Gok,Necati Bingol,Selim Kilic,Taner Ozgurtas,Sezin Bingol +11 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that hyperglycemia causes an increase in plasma visfatin levels and, as in people with T2DM but not with IGT, this increase gets more prominent as the glucose intolerance worsens.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma apelin is lower in patients with elevated LDL-cholesterol.
Ilker Tasci,T. Dogru,Ilkin Naharci,Gokhan Erdem,Mahmut Ilker Yilmaz,Alper Sonmez,Necati Bingol,Selim Kilic,Sezin Bingol,Selahattin Erikci +9 more
TL;DR: Low apelin levels in hypercholesterolemia seem associated with insulin resistance, which needs to be investigated in larger populations as well as in other atherosclerotic conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bone mineral density and bone turnover in patients with psoriatic arthritis.
TL;DR: In patients with psoriatic arthritis, the duration of arthritis was negatively correlated with BMD values of lumbar spine and total femur and serum CTX levels, suggesting an association of increased demineralization with theduration of joint disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blockade of the renin-angiotensin system increases plasma adiponectin levels in type-2 diabetic patients with proteinuria.
Mujdat Yenicesu,Mahmut Ilker Yilmaz,Kayser Caglar,Alper Sonmez,Tayfun Eyileten,Cengizhan Acikel,Selim Kilic,Necati Bingol,Sezin Bingol,Abdulgaffar Vural +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that adiponectin is inversely correlated withproteinuria and treatment with ramipril both corrects proteinuria and increases the low adiponECTin levels in diabetic patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bone mineral density and bone turnover markers in a group of male ankylosing spondylitis patients: relationship to disease activity.
TL;DR: To determine bone mineral density (BMD) of the lateral lumbar spine in a group of male patients with ankylosing spondylitis and to investigate the relationship between clinical parameters and markers of bone turnover, the levels of BASDAI scores and N-telopeptide values correlated significantly with each other.
