In this study parasitic infection of bobwhite and Japanese quails were clarified in farms of Garmsar city in province of Semnan. Forty quails from two breeds randomly were selected and they examined to identify all internal and external parasites .Finding was shown that five percent of the quails examined harbored one or more species of helminthes. Two cestodes, Raillietina echinobothrida and Raillietina cysticillus were found in small intestine. One of female bobwhite quails was infected by R.echinobothrida and one male bobwhite quails was infected by R.cysticyllus. Eight of forty quails harbored intestinal Cryptosporidiosis (20%) and thirteen of forty quails had tracheal cryptosporidiosis (32.5%).Intestinal cryptosporidiosis was clarified in three male and one female of both bobwhite and Japanese quails and tracheal cryptosporidiosis was found in four male and five female of bob white quails and three male and one female of Japanese quails. Also in this study significant difference  was determined between female Bob white breed & female Japanese breed in case of tracheal cryptosporidiosis (p<0.05). In this study, there was no ectoparasite on quails.

Study on parasitic infections of quails in garmsar, iran

Three adult female cormorants, Phalacrocorax carbo, were found dead in Qena province, Egypt in December 2016. They were immediately sent to the Laboratory in Faculty of Science, South Valley University, Egypt, for necropsy. Apparently, the birds had no gross lesions or suffered from injured or damaged tissue. Complete evisceration of internal organs was performed, and birds were subjected to a full parasitological examination for the detection of helminths. Helminthiasis was only detected in the gastrointestinal tracts. Among the recovered helminths, three trematodes, one tapeworm, and three nematode species were found. Digeneans were identified as Clinostomum complanatum (n=3; at the first part of the oesophagus), Ribeiroia ondatrae (n=2; at the middle part of the oesophagus), and Paryphostomum radiatum (n=3; in the small intestine). The revealed cestodes species (n=one; in the small intestine) were identified as Paradilepsis scolecina. Lastly, the recovered nematodes (n=3; in the stomach) were identified as Contracaecum rudolphii, Contracaecum microcephalum, and Contracaecum chubutensis. It was noted that mixed infection of all helminth species was found in a single bird. Moreover, another bird also presented with mixed infection of Contracaecum spp. and digeneans. Histopathological examination revealed leucocytic infiltration surrounding the embedded digeneans, hyperplasia of the proventricular wall, as well as necrosis with remnants of degenerated trematodes. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study revealing Clinostomum complanatum, Ribeiroia ondatrae, Paryphostomum radiatum, Paradilepsis scolecina, Contracaecum rudolphii, Contracaecum microcephalum, and Contracaecum chubutensis in the great cormorant, Phalacrocorax carbo, in Egypt.

Trends in genetic divergence of Biomphalaria alexandrina snails and Oreochromis niloticus fish in response to water quality of Lake Burullus, Egypt.

Quails have many advantages over other poultry species. Its meat has achieved great popularity as an excellent source of protein and other important nutrients. However, there are some limitations to quails production. One of them is the susceptibility to parasitic diseases that cause severe economic losses. Therefore, this work aimed to determine the infection rate and morphology of parasites infecting quails in ElBehera governorate, Egypt. 100 quails (50 migratory, Coturnix coturnix japonica and 50 domesticated quails) were collected. The gastrointestinal tracts of each bird were examined to collect helminths. Fecal materials were examined by direct and flotation methods to detect any coccidian species. The results showed that the total percentage of infection with parasites was 55%. The prevalence of parasitic infection in migratory and domesticated quails was 40% and 70%, respectively. Two species of helminths were recorded, Raillitina tetragona and Heterakis gallinarum with a prevalence of 87.5% and 22.22%, respectively. The morphology of helminths was described using a scanning electron microscope. Eimeria bateri, Eimeria tsunodai, and Eimeria uzura were among the protozoa identified. The histopathological changes in infected tissue with Eimeria species were recorded. In conclusion, this study presented the parasites’ prevalence, morphology, and histopathological changes in infected tissue with Eimeria species in examined domesticated and migratory quails.

Prevalence and scanning electron microscope of some parasites infecting domesticated and migratory quails from Edko and Rashid districts, El-Behera governorate, Egypt

The present study aims to clarify the difference of the intensity of parasitic infection between the domestic quails Coturnis coturnis and the migrant ones A total of 60 domesticated and 60 migratory quails were investigated during the migration season September-November 2009 for intestinal parasites Investigations revealed that both domestic and migrant quails were susceptible to infection with three helminth parasites; a nematode (Heterakis gallinarum), and two cestodes (Choanotaenia infundibulum and Hymenolepis sp) The prevalence of infection in the migratory males was higher than the female ones, the opposite results was obtained for the domestic birds The differences in the prevalence were found to be statistically significant in case of the domestic birds Single infection showed the highest prevalence followed by the double infection and finally the triple infection The mean intensity of infection in the female domestic and migrant C coturnix was higher than male
