Seismic Fragility Estimates of LRB Base Isolated Frames Using Performance-Based Design

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors dealt with seismic performance of base isolated structures with lead-rubber bearing (LRB) using incremental dynamic analysis (IDA), and the results showed the reduction of determined failure probability in fragility curves for two levels of performance of uninterrupted use and lateral safety.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seismic Response of Steel SMFs Subjected to Vertical Components of Far- and Near-Field Earthquakes with Forward Directivity Effects

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated 3-, 5-, 8-, and 20-story steel moment frames with special ductility (SMF) through which modeling effects of panel zone have been applied, subjected to vertical component of near-field (NF) earthquakes with forward directivity and the vertical components of far-field earthquakes, and they found that the average values of the maximum displacement, shear force of the stories, and the velocity of each story under the impact of the near field earthquake are greater than the amount of that under the effect of a far field earthquake.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance based design optimum of CBFs using bee colony algorithm

TL;DR: In this paper, concentrically braced frames (CBFs) have been optimized at the immediate occupancy (IO) and collapse prevention (CP) levels to minimize structural weight.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Soil Classification on Seismic Behavior of SMFs considering Soil-Structure Interaction and Near-Field Earthquakes

TL;DR: In this paper, the seismic response of 5 and 8-story steel buildings equipped with special moment frames (SMFs) which have been designed based on type II and III soils (according to the seismic code of Iran-Standard 2800) has been studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of pulse-like nature of forward directivity ground motions on the seismic behavior of steel moment frames

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the seismic response of 3-, 5- and 8-story steel special moment frames (SMFs) by considering the effects of panel zone modeling and the influence of forward-directivity near-field ground motions.
