A muscle fatigue monitor featuring detecting a myoelectric signal and providing a first output signal representative of said myoelectric signal, producing a second output signal corresponding to a portion of said first output signal having components in a selected frequency band, providing a control signal corresponding to the difference in magnitude between said output signals, varying the magnitude of said second signal in accordance with the value of said control signal, and displaying the variation in the frequency spectrum of said myoelectric signal as a function of time.

Monitoring myoelectric signals

A tuning circuit (18) for tuning an integrated circuit filter, such as a continuous-time MOSFET-C filter (12), is disclosed. The tuning circuit includes a switched-capacitor network (20) having a capacitor (I) which matches the capacitor used in the filter (12) to be tuned. Also included is a transistor (M) which matches the transistor used in the filter. The switched-capacitor network has a effective resistance which is a function of the switching rate of the network. Feedback circuitry is included which produces a control signal used to vary the small signal resistance of the transistor to match the effective resistance of the switched-capacitor network. The filter is tuned by varying the rate of which the switched capacitor network is clocked thereby changing to effective network resistance. The control voltage (Vc) responds by forcing the transistor resistance to match the new effective resistance of the switched-capacitor network. The control voltage is used to tune the filter and changes to compensate for variations in the filter capacitor and transistor, which track variations in the filter transistor and capacitor.

Continuous-time filter tuning circuit and method

A process and apparatus (a) for reducing the perceived noise without perceptible loss of fidelity upon aural reproduction, of an audio input signal in electrical form by means of an electronic circuit wherein the upper limit of the bandwidth of the signal is automatically and continuously adjusted in accordance with the relationship of (i) the peak amplitude of the rate of change of the signal with respect to time to (ii) the instantaneous amplitude within a selected frequency band of the signal, and (b) a system for detecting and discriminating between noise and audio transients in the input signal and retaining the audio transients in the output signal.

Noise reduction system

Filter adjustment apparatus for adjusting cut-off frequencies or dip frequencies, for example, may be adjusted to desired optimum properties, during application of an input signal of a constant frequency. The optimum filter adjustment data are found, based on data manifested when the level detected output of the filter output crosses a prescribed reference level whereby the filter adjustment operation is simplified and accuracy is improved with a simplified structure, and it is possible to achieve automatic adjustment of the filter characteristics.

Filter adjustment apparatus and method

An automatic graphic equalizer for a sound system has circuitry for measuring the effect of the physical environment receiving a sound on the frequency characteristics of the sound, and for adjusting the characteristics of a graphic equalizer to compensate for distortions in the desired flat frequency response caused by the physical environment. The circuitry includes a pink noise generator supplying pink noise to the graphic equalizer during an initialization operation, the graphic equalizer being controlled by a controller to present a flat frequency characteristic. The equalizer output is sent to a speaker which supplies the pink noise as a sound signal to the selected environment. A microphone picks up the sound in the selected environment and converts it to an electrical signal which is supplied through an ALC amplifier to a frequency-variable band-pass filter to detect the signal level in each of the equalizer frequency bands. The level signals are smoothed in a level detector and digitized to be input to the controller which readjusts the graphic equalizer to compensate for distortions in the desired flat frequency response caused by the selected environment.

Automatic graphic equalizer

A device for measuring the frequency or period of an input signal independent of different frequency noise signals which may be superimposed on the input signal includes a filter circuit having a variable cut-off frequency. The output level of the filter circuit is detected by a level detector, the output of which electrically controls a variable element such as a variable resistor, a variable capacitance diode or the like which is included in the filter circuit. This controls the cut-off frequency of the filter circuit, so as to maintain its output level at a given level. In this manner, an input signal frequency is converted into a corresponding level, utilizing a declining portion adjacent to the cut-off frequency of the frequency response of the filter circuit. The converted level is utilized to vary the cut-off frequency of the filter circuit to maintain its output level constant, thereby automatically changing the cut-off frequency in accordance with the input signal frequency.
