A gas generating device for supplying gas in an air bag or the like. The gas generating device is provided with a gas generating composition (3), which is burned by an igniting means (2a) to generate gas, and a primary filter (7) for filtering the burnt gas. The gas generating composition (3) and the filter (7) are placed in a combustion chamber (4) having a primary gas exhausting port (9). The primary filter (7) is chemically inactive with respect to the burnt products of the gas generating composition (3). The filter (7) comprises a metal screen (12) whose melting point is equal to or higher than the burning temperature of the gas generating composition (3). A cooling chamber (8) is provided which communicates via the primary gas exhausting port (9) with the combustion chamber (4). In the cooling chamber (8) is disposed a secondary filter (11) which cools gas coming out of the combustion chamber (4) and filters the burning residue in the gas. A secondary gas exhausting port (10) is formed in the cooling chamber (8) to discharge the gas filtered by the secondary filter (11). The secondary filter (11) includes a ceramic fiber sheet (22) with a bulk density of 0.10 to 0.30 g/cm³ and a filtering period of 1.0 to 6.0 sec/300 cc per 1 mm in thickness (time needed to pass 300 cc of gas through the filter).

In an ink jet printer head which ejects ink drops from a nozzle (11) formed on the surface of the nozzle plate (1), wherein a metal layer (13) and a sulfur compound layer (14) are formed on the surface of the nozzle. Gold atoms of the metal layer (13) and sulfur atoms of the sulfur compound layer (14) are bonded covalently and form a water repellant thin film. Since ink does not remain on the nozzle surface, problems such as ink drops being pulled by residue ink and the ejection direction of ink drops being bent are eliminated.

Disclosed is a photosensitive element for the production of lithographic printing plates improved in printing endurance comprising a support, a physical development nuclei layer, and at least one gelatin-containing layer including a silver halide emulsion layer disposed under said nuclei layer, which is adapted to the silver complex diffusion transfer process to utilize the transferred silver image on said nuclei layer as ink-receptive areas, all of the gelatin-containing layers having a pH value below the isoelectric point of the gelatin used in each layer. Further improvement can be attained by using a photographic gelatin and a low molecular weight gelatin in at least one of said gelatin-containing layers.

Lithographic printing plates which have such a high sensitivity as permitting use of semiconductor laser beam of low output, a high resolving power and a high printing endurance and are free from occurrence of scumming are made by a method which comprises imagewise exposing a light sensitive material which comprises a support and at least a silver halide emulsion layer and a surface physical development nuclei layer provided on the support, said emulsion layer comprising silver halide grains which contain at least silver bromide and containing at least one sensitizing dye having a maximum spectral sensitivity in the region of longer than 700 μm and then developing the exposed light sensitive material with a silver complex diffusion transfer developer containing at least a thiocyanate. Further improvement can be obtained by providing an antihalation means to keep the reflectance of a light of longer than 700 μm at 13-40%.

PURPOSE:To keep a surface of a heavy metal to be water repellent and oil repellent under simple and mild treating condition at room temp. by applying a thione compound shown in specified plural formulas or a thiol compound of its tautomer, or a salt of the thiol compound. CONSTITUTION:A surface of a heavy metal is kept to be water repellent and oil repellent by applying a specified thione compound or a thiol compound of its tautomer, or a salt of the thiol compound on the surface of the heavy metal. In this case, the thione compound is shown in attached formula (I) or (II). In formula (I), (n) is an integer of 6-9, L is a monovalent or divalent bonded group, Z is a residual group necessary to form a thiazoline ring, a triazoline ring, a tetraazoline ring, a dihydrotriazine ring or tetrahydrotriazine ring respectively. And in formula (II), (n) is an integer of 6-9, L is a divalent bonded group, R is hydrogen atom, lower alkyl group, lower alkenyl group or aryl group respectively.

A photographic binder prepared by heating a mixed aqueous solution of styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer, isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer and polyvinyl alcohol in acidic state makes it possible to coat a photographic coating liquid for forming photographic layers in the same manner as in the case of using gelatin and furthermore gives excellent physical properties to the resultant photographic layers.
