Journal ArticleDOI

The structural and chemical origin of the oxygen redox activity in layered and cation-disordered Li-excess cathode materials

TL;DR: It is demonstrated how very specific local Li-excess environments around oxygen atoms necessarily lead to labile oxygen electrons that can be more easily extracted and participate in the practical capacity of cathodes.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Facile Mechanism for Recharging Li2O2 in Li–O2 Batteries

TL;DR: In this paper, an alternative reaction pathway based on topotactic delithiation of Li2O2 to form off-stoichiometric Li2-xO2 compounds was proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nanoscale stabilization of sodium oxides: implications for Na-O2 batteries.

TL;DR: It is shown that, while sodium peroxide is the stable bulk phase of Na in an oxygen environment at standard conditions, sodium superoxide is considerably more stable at the nanoscale, explaining why it can be observed as the discharge product in some Na-O2 batteries.

Intrinsic stoichiometry and oxygen-induced p-type conductivity of pyrite FeS2

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the p-type conductivity of synthetic pyrite FeS2 thin films via first-principles computations of native (vacancies, interstitials, antisites) and extrinsic (OS, Oi) point defects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogen storage in complex hydrides: past activities and new trends

TL;DR: In this article , the authors present a review of the recent advances on different complex hydride systems, coming from the proficient collaborative activities in the past years from the research groups led by the experts of the Task 40 ‘Energy Storage and Conversion Based on Hydrogen’ of the Hydrogen Technology Collaboration Programme of the International Energy Agency.
