IoT-Based Smart Medicine Dispenser to Control and Supervise Medication Intake

AbstractThis paper presents the implementation and working of a smart medical assist device for the elderly. The Internet of Things (IoT) is attracting attention for applications in various fields. The elderly people of the society are currently facing their inability to understand the proper medication schedule. Pandemic made things harder than usual. Especially during this period, even the caretakers/medical assistants don’t tend to travel outside and meet their clients. We looked into no contact medical assistance and chose that as the main objective, along with the intention of providing them with proper medical scheduling for intake and adding the advantage of tracking the amount of medicine. The research paper will handle the medicines’ schedule from any place when entered manually. It informs the pharmacy and doctor to see the complete status of medicines with the elderly. SMADE - Smart Medical Assist Device for Elders

The elderly tend to forget the medications at times, and this has a colossal impact on their health. Especially for those who have been prescribed multiple medications at different dosages. Due to various added reasons such as decreased motor skills, inability to move around, they require constant attention and help with their medications. It is very crucial for them to take their pills as per the dose prescribed by the doctor. It becomes a tedious job for them and sometimes it can get very confusing. Hence the need for engaging a caretaker arises. Also given the COVID-19 Pandemic situation, the elderly are supposed to be isolated. Hence, this research work proposes a Pill Dispenser combined with a Self-Mapping robot to take appropriate medication. This research work utilizes SLAM based bot to map and navigate in an unknown environment. It makes use of the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework. The mapping process is done by using the GMapping algorithm.

Currently, a large part of the world population suffers from diseases such as: diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, epilepsy, heart problems, among others, which require a continuous supply of drugs at specific times, to improve the quality of life Of the people with these health problems, professionals in the medical area are consulted, who are the ones who deliver a prescription and the indications of the supply of medicines, diets and general indications. Patients generally tend to lose the prescription, forget to take the medications at the exact times, because most of these people live alone or in the forgetfulness of their relatives. The technology that is available today, such as mechanical dispensers, electronic dispensers, becomes a very helpful tool for patients, since it allows them to remember the time when they should ingest the medical formula, avoiding the inefficiency of the suggested treatment and even major complications such as death from forgetting to supply the medicine. The proposal consists of the construction of a low-cost medicine dispenser that allows the autonomy of an elderly person, through a medical assistance team, an analysis of the operation was carried out, which had very good results, comparable with high-cost equipment and equivalent operation

Inexpensive Pill Dispenser for the Elderly Suffering from Non-communicable Diseases

This paper presents a smart medicine dispenser prototype. The main purpose of the system is to help the patients, primarily seniors take their medicines on time in an easy way without any possibility of missing pills, also reducing the risk of over or under dosage accidentally. Not taking medicines correctly can have a serious consequence such as delayed recovery, illness and even death. The smart medicine dispenser could solve such problems by informing and alerting the patients to take appropriate dosage at the correct time. In addition, it provide the direct communication between the patients and the caretakers as it will immediately notify the caretaker in case the patient missed their pill. In addition, Smart Pill Dispenser provides the user with a touch interface available as an application on their smartphone, which will allow them to remotely manage and control pill schedules and usage data.

Health related problems are becoming the major issue in today’s world , every other person seems to be undergoing more than one problem irrespective of the age , either that problem be related to heart or brain .Forgetting things has become the most common human error nowadays and such carelessness seen in the case of taking medicines might lead to results which are catastrophic and has direct impact onto the health of an individual .Thus this papers describes how with the help of smart dispensers an individual be able to take his medicines without any external human assistance .The proposed dispenser abridged the gap between technology and medical field , as it has been seen that technology is more developing in other arena over the area of medicine.

Fall prevention has always been taken under mere consideration and is often ignored, but fall from heights is the biggest concern that cannot be neglected. The methods and devices so far designed to prevent the fall from towers are not too worthy to resolve and in such cases the people working on high towers are meant to be guarded with ropes or ladders. If the ropes are not tethered properly else if the ladders are detected with internal faults, then it will eventually lead to an emergency call. The fall is predicted on the basis of the working of the heart and pulse level of that individual; further it is assumed that the other protective equipment are not working at that particular point of time, where this device will play a crucial role. An emergency message or call is immediately transmitted as soon as the proposed model detects the abrupt increment in pulses. In this way, the proposed model can protect the person from head injuries or even death.

This paper presents a working model of Smart Health Care System with a medicine dispenser which can alleviate problem that people face due to delay in their treatment. Those who are resided in remote areas are the ones who actually suffer as they are not entertained properly with medical and transport related facilities. Travelling to the clinics or hospitals whose emolument they cannot afford can easily be resolved on implementing this product into the market. Diagnosing the patients will be much more straight forward, no more spending lakhs to meet the doctors, standing in ques and waiting for the number will no more be seen. This project comprises of sensors and microcontrollers with the help of which data is analyzed by the machine and it eventually generate the report of the patient under consideration, drug is finally being given to the patient once the diagnose is over.

Smart Healthcare Expert System with Medicine Dispenser

Knee injuries, leg amputation or arthritis have always been the biggest concern amongst the surgeons and different department of medicines. So far the advancements being done in this arena have proved to be futile, sometimes the condition of the concerned patient becomes too complex due to the pain or any injury that he is tend to remove that part from his body which eventually costs him to spend plenty for the surgery. The knee related problems and amputation can be resolved either through surgery or prescription but for the case of arthritis the patient is confined to live in pain for many years as the complete cure for the same has not been in the medicine department so far. In this study we have attempted to propose a model of leg which allows the patient to move the lower leg autonomously and the speed can be controlled to attain that relaxed range with potentiometers. The whole model has been segregated into different parts which eventually lead to deep analysis of the forces and other parameter acting on the prosthetics at the time of transition from one position to another. Keeping in mind the case of surgery and other methods, this leg tend to perform tasks which do not require any surgery or serious implantation.
