In response to the dual problems of global climate change and the economic crisis, the concept of the green economy has spread beyond environmental economics and into mainstream politics and business. The green Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a critical component of achieving a green transition in the regional economy, as well as a key component of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. We used data envelopment analysis and system GMM techniques to measure the association between Government expenditure and the green economic performance. This method uses panel data from 2008 to 2018 in selected BRI countries. The results show that the fluctuations in the green economic performance index of BRI countries are caused by the lack of serious government policies. Moreover, the econometric findings shows that government expenditure have positive significant effect on green economic performance. Furthermore, the analysis demonstrates that public expenditure on human capital and renewable energy leads to a productive green economy through labor, and technically advance developmental practices, with varying consequences in distinctive countries. An intelligent measurement method of the resonant frequency of ultrasonic scalpel transducers based on PSO-BP neural network

Anaerobic digestion (AnD) is a process that allows the conversion of organic waste into a source of energy such as biogas, introducing sustainability and circular economy in waste treatment. AnD is an intricate process because of multiple parameters involved, and its complexity increases when the wastes are from different types of generators. In this case, a key point to achieve good performance is optimisation methods. Currently, many tools have been developed to optimise a single AnD plant. However, the study of a network of AnD plants and multiple waste generators, all in different locations, remains unexplored. This novel approach requires the use of optimisation methodologies with the capacity to deal with a highly complex combinatorial problem. This paper proposes and compares the use of three evolutionary algorithms: ant colony optimisation (ACO), genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimisation (PSO), which are especially suited for this type of application. The algorithms successfully solve the problem, using an objective function that includes terms related to quality and logistics. Their application to a real case study in Catalonia (Spain) shows their usefulness (ACO and GA to achieve maximum biogas production and PSO for safer operation conditions) for AnD facilities.

Comparison of Optimisation Algorithms for Centralised Anaerobic Co-Digestion in a Real River Basin Case Study in Catalonia

HIGHLIGHTS The public are willing to pay to safeguard forests in Malaysia. Education level and household income are positively related to the public's willingness to pay. Introduction of a new entrance fee will be used for forest conservation activities. The money value calculated for willingness to pay (WTP) using the single bounded Contingent Valuation Method is higher than with the double bounded Contingent Valuation Method. The view of the public is that a declining forest area will have a negative effect on the environment. SUMMARY Protecting forests and their wildlife from threats such as encroachment, illegal logging and poaching is vital to safeguard their existence for future generations, and is crucial for the balance of our ecosystem. The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) currently has a man-made forest under its protection where the forest area is managed sustainably and systematically to ensure the ecosystem in Kuala Lumpur remains in balance. In order to assess forest conservation and its impacts on the urban community, this study focuses on the level of public awareness for forest conservation and willingness to pay (WTP) to maintain the area. The importance and value of a forest are determined using the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). The mean WTP is affected by household income and education level. This research provides a guideline for stakeholders in forest areas and evaluates public awareness via their WTP for forest conservation. Moreover, knowledge of forest conservation by communities helps governments in resolving common problems relating to forestry policy, administration, and management. La protection des forêts et de leur faune contre les menaces telles que l'empiètement, la coupe de bois illégale et le braconnage est vitale pour préserver leur existence pour les générations futures, et est cruciale pour l'équilibre de notre écosystème. L'institut malais de recherche forestière (FRIM) prend actuellement la forêt créée par l'homme sous sa protection quand cette forêt est gérée durablement et systématiquement, pour assurer que l'écosystème de Kuala Lumpur préserve son équilibre. Afin d'évaluer la conservation forestière et ses impacts sur la communauté urbaine, cette étude se concentre sur le niveau de prise de conscience du public de la conservation forestière et sur son état de préparation à contribuer financièrement (WTP) pour maintenir la zone. La valeur et l'importance d'une forêt sont déterminées en utilisant la méthode d'évaluation contingente (CVM). La moyenne du WTP est affectée par les revenus des foyers et par le niveau d'éducation. Cette recherche offre des repères aux parties prenantes des zones forestières et évalue le degré de prise de conscience du public par le biais de leur WTP pour la conservation. De plus, la connaissance de la conservation forestière par les communautés aide les gouvernements à résoudre les problèmes courants affectant la politique forestière, l'administration et la gestion. El Instituto de Investigación Forestal de Malasia (FRIM, por siglas en inglés) posee en la actualidad un bosque artificial bajo su protección en el que la zona forestal se gestiona de forma sostenible y sistemática para garantizar que se mantiene el equilibrio del ecosistema de Kuala Lumpur. Para evaluar la conservación del bosque y sus repercusiones en la comunidad urbana, este estudio se centra en el nivel de conciencia del público sobre la conservación del bosque y su disposición a pagar (DAP) para mantener esta área. La importancia y el valor de un bosque se determinan mediante el método de valoración contingente (MVC). La media de la DAP se ve afectada por los ingresos del hogar y el nivel educativo. Esta investigación proporciona una guía para las partes interesadas en las áreas forestales y evalúa la conciencia pública a través de su DAP por la conservación de los bosques. Además, el conocimiento de la conservación de los bosques por parte de las comunidades ayuda a los gobiernos a resolver problemas comunes relacionados con la política, la administración y la gestión forestal.

Public Awareness and Willingness to Pay (WTP) for Forest Conservation in Malaysia

A complete evaluation of conflicting and nonlinear multiperformance is referred to as an evaluation system. Therefore, multiobjective optimization research for building performance is of great importance. Considering the above problems, this paper proposes a multiobjective performance optimization platform at the architectural design stage. The optimization research is combined with the basic algorithms. It is based on Grasshopper software. It aims to provide a fast and effective method for the optimization design of sustainable buildings. It is important to note that this workflow has no restrictions on what to optimize for or what to target, and can be determined on a case-by-case basis. To evaluate the use of the work platform and make the research results more extensive, the standard model of the inner corridor space building in office buildings in cold areas was extracted. The extracted standard model was taken as the final research object. At the same time, the convergence, distribution, and comprehensive evaluation indexes of the simulation results were analyzed. The quantitative influence parameter system of window parameters on the total building energy consumption, lighting uniformity, and glare probability was established. A series of parametric design models based on the comprehensive optimal solution of building energy consumption and lighting quality was obtained. The main purpose of this paper is to design a green building design method based on the principle of goal-oriented design. This paper, combined with the group search function of nondominated genetic algorithm (NSGA-II), the energy consumption of the building, and the evaluation function of indoor thermal and humid environment, is obtained and linked with MATLAB. The energy consumption of residential buildings and indoor thermal comfort were taken as the optimization objectives of the design scheme. The automatic optimization model of the architectural design scheme was established. Finally, the Pareto solution set of the architectural design scheme is obtained, and the designer can select the appropriate design scheme of the Pareto solution set according to the actual situation of the project, to meet the requirements of green building design. The design scheme optimized by this method can effectively reduce building energy consumption and improve indoor thermal comfort.
