Most of the home automation wireless technologies on the internet of things are based on ZigBee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth wireless technologies. While these solutions are good enough, users of smart homes are facing challenges of selecting the best technology. This paper compares the performance of ZigBee, Z-Wave Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies from the user's perspective. Power consumption, range, cost, ease of use, scalability, and interoperability are the six indices developed as guidelines to potential users, and hence, the results of this study. With this knowledge, the users can make the appropriate choice of wireless technology solution to use in their home automation systems.

Comparison of Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth Wireless Technologies Used in Home Automation

Smart home safety and security systems have gained much importance over the last few years owing to their notable impact in reducing and preventing losses in resources and human life caused by unwanted situations that could occur while homeowners are far away from their homes. To date, there is a lack of an in-depth literature analysis that could help researchers and developers better understand these systems and their applications in different contexts. It is therefore crucial that research evidence published in this area is presented. In this study, 63 research papers that examined smart home safety and security systems using the Arduino platform from popular literature databases were thoroughly surveyed to extract useful data. Then, the extracted data were analyzed to answer many research questions concerning state-of-the-art applications of these systems, their architectures, their enabling technologies, their components, etc. In addition, several challenges that these systems currently face and how future research could enable better implementation and use of these systems were discussed.

Systematic Survey on Smart Home Safety and Security Systems Using the Arduino Platform

In the past 10 years, the hospitality industry's discussions on cloud technology have been ongoing to rise, but they had been stuck in the stage of paper talks, and there were no substantive action. In view of the huge potential of the intelligent hospitality industry market, and the related academic research literatures about the virtualized cloud architecture, AI technology application and intelligent virtual housekeeper system among in this industry is still relatively few. Therefore, I selected the industry success case led by Taiwan's Ministry of Science and Technology as a case study for this research, besides, quantified the system's trial operation phase, relevant operational performance results, as the focus of this intelligent hotel case implementation effectiveness evaluation.

The human lives are administered by automation industry and robotic world. The robots can be used widely mainly due to its simplicity and their ability to provide solution to the problems. The key intention of this paper is to create an automated vehicle for investigation by using progressive machineries like Wi-Fi. The robot containing the camera can continuously send the video. This class of surveillance robots can be mainly used for spying the enemy in battle.

Unmanned Ground Vehicle for Surveillance

Current defense applications are changing day by day and in future, no soldiers will go to battle field without using advance technology. The soldiers are able to know the position and movement of enemy in the battle field without entering to it. For this a micro wireless camera is fitted on the robot, where the video and voice transmitted to the control room. The present work designs a robot, constructed with the help of chain wheels and connected to motors, where movement of robot can be controlled in all directions with gear facility. The controlling of this robot is done with help of wireless RF module.

Wireless controlled military combat robot system

It requires to use new advanced technology in wireless networking environment for achieving automation in daily used appliances. The present work develops a system, which is intended to control electrical appliances and devices in house with relatively low cost, user-friendly interface and also informs the user about any intruder detection. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how simple algorithms can produce useful behavior of appliances reducing human efforts. The smart home concept in the system improves the standard living at home. The main control system implements wireless technology to provide remote access from smart phone. In addition, IR sensors are used for detecting the presence of a person inside the room to control the lighting.

Home automation system using wireless network

Code division multiple access (CDMA) systems are being counted to provide the necessary infrastructure to implement future 3G systems. The CDMA is uniquely featured by its spread spectrum (a random) process employing a pseudo random noise (PN) sequence, thus it is called the spread spectrum multiple access (SSMA). The CDMA can eliminate the data transfer latency variations by sharing the data communication media among multiple users concurrently. In this proposed work, we simulate the functionality of CDMA system on Xilinx ISE platform. Here, we use Manchester encode/decode technique for encryption and decryption. The simulation results show the working of CDMA transmitter and receiver on Verilog platform. Implementation of proposed system is targeted on Virtex 5 FPGA.

This paper compares the performance parameters of rectangular and circular micro-strip antenna for 2.4 GHz RFID wireless applications using IE3D simulation software. The main parameters of comparison are return loss, gain, and area. The main objective of the work is to obtain the reduction in the size of circular antenna compared to rectangular for same frequency of operation. Impedance matching between the feeder line and radiating patch is done using planar micro-strip transmission lines. Quarter wave feeding technique is used for both the antennas to provide best matching between antenna and the source. Simulation is done using IE3D simulation software and parameters like bandwidth, return loss, and gain are measured. Results are optimized using optimizing techniques and results are compared with practically measured results. Finally antennas are fabricated and tested using in-house facilities.
