Abstract: Using HPLC ten phlorotannins belonging to the group of fuhalols were isolated from an ethanolic extract of Landsburgia quercifolia as peracetates after acetylation. The structures of the isolated compounds were established by means of spectroscopic analysis, /. e. H NMR spectra and direct comparison with spectra of authentic substances. Similar to Sargassum muticum, the alga Landsburgia quercifolia contains exclusively phlorotannins of fuhaloltype.
