An I-CSCF of user's home domain receives a service request of the user, and if it is found that the S-CSCF currently providing a service for the user fails, assigns a new S-CSCF to the user, and forwards the service request to the newly assigned S-CSCF. The newly assigned S-CSCF interrogates and acquires subscription data of the user and the necessary data backed up by the original S-CSCF from the storage entity, and then restores the user service processing according to the subscription data and the backup data. While there have been tremendous efforts to develop the architecture and protocols to support advanced Internet-based services over 3G and 4G networks, IMS is far from being deployed in a wide scale manner. Effort to create an operator controlled signaling infrastructure using IP-based protocols has resulted in a large number of functional components and interactions between those components. Thus, the carriers are trying to explore alternative ways to deploy IMS that will allow them to manage their network in a cost effective manner while offering the value-added services. One of such approaches is self organization of IMS. The self organizing IMS can enable the IMS functional components and corresponding nodes to adapt them dynamically based on the features like network load, number of users and available system resources. This paper introduces such a self organizing and adaptive IMS architecture, describes the advanced functions and demonstrates the initial results from the prototype test-bed. In particular, we show how all IMS functional components can be merged and split among different nodes as the network demand and environment change without disrupting the ongoing sessions or calls. Although it is too early to conclude the effectiveness of self organizing IMS, initial results are encouraging and it may provide additional incentives to the operators for network evolution.

The method includes: triggering a redundant Call Session Control Function (CSCF); obtaining, by the redundant CSCF, user backup data of registered IMS Private User Identities (IMPIs) that are associated with IMPUs and user service configuration data of IMS Public User Identities (IMPUs) in an IMS subscription from a network storage entity of a user; and recovering, by the redundant CSCF, a corresponding service according to the obtained user backup data of the registered IMPIs and user service configuration data of the IMPUs in the IMS subscription. With the present invention, the one-IMPU multi-IMPI, one-IMPI multi-IMPU, or multi-IMPI multi-IMPU service can be recovered, and this enables the user to have better service continuity experiences.

An embodiment of the invention provides a method for recovering service. The method is applied to the IMS network which comprises at least two calling conversation function entities CSCF, wherein the method comprises the following steps: detecting the multifunction of a second CSCF by a first CSCF; and transmitting informing information to the user terminal by the first CSCF, wherein, the informing information is used for triggering the user terminal for re-registering. The embodiment of invention also provides a device used for recovering service. Through using the embodiment of the invention, when the entity, such as S-CSCF or P-CSCF in network is abnormal or down-restarting and can not continuing providing service for user, other entity in the network can trigger the user terminal for re-registering. The network can still provide transmission initializing service, transmission terminating service, etc. The inferior service experience caused by the abnormity of network entity to the user is prevented.

A method for implementing the disaster recovery of IMS includes: S-CSCF receives the register of the user, and backups the data that is necessary when renewing the user service process to the memory entity in the network; the I-CSCF homing the user receives the service request of the user; if it finds the current S-CSCF serving for the user fails, it distributes the new S-CSCF for the user and forwards the said service request to the new distributing S-CSCF; the new distributing S-CSCF enquires the user contract data and the former S-CSCF backup data from the memory entity, and renews the user service process according to the contract data and the backup data. There is also an apparatus for implementing disaster recovery of IMS. Using the technical proposal provided by the invention, after S-CSCF fails, the affected user can immediately renew the service when establishing a call, without waiting for the re-register triggered by the re-register timer of the user terminal to renew the network service, so as to implement to improve the network reliability without increasing the system burden.
