Recovery of the seabed following marine aggregate dredging on the Hastings Shingle Bank off the southeast coast of England

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of dredging intensity on the physical and biological recovery times of the seabed following marine aggregate dredging was investigated, using a combination of acoustic, video and grab sampling techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance of selected indicators in evaluating the consequences of dredged material relocation and marine aggregate extraction

TL;DR: Number of species and number of individuals generally scored highest in terms of understandability, sensitivity and linkage to the human activity whilst biotic indices were assigned relatively low scores, particularly in relation to aggregate extraction activities, according to the same criteria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modelling the effects of marine aggregate extraction on benthic assemblages

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed models of the initial impact of marine aggregate extraction on a benthic assemblage and developed a framework for estimating species reduction by modelling the spatial pattern of individuals before dredging using a Matern process, the impact of dredging at an individual level and the probability that a species is not seen in a post-dredging survey.
