Operating profiles for consumers of computing resources may be automatically determined based on an analysis of actual resource usage measurements and other operating metrics. Measurements may be taken while a consumer, such as a virtual machine instance, uses computing resources, such as those provided by a host. A profile may be dynamically determined based on those measurements. Profiles may be generalized such that groups of consumers with similar usage profiles are associated with a single profile. Assignment decisions may be made based on the profiles, and computing resources may be reallocated or oversubscribed if the profiles indicate that the consumers are unlikely to fully utilize the resources reserved for them. Oversubscribed resources may be monitored, and consumers may be transferred to different resource providers if contention for resources is too high.

Automated profiling of resource usage

Systems and methods for prediction of activity session for mobile network use optimization and user experience enhancement are disclosed. In one aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure include a method, which may be implemented on a system for enhancing user experience with a mobile application on a mobile device including, using user activity characteristics at a mobile device and server activity characteristics of a host server to anticipate a future activity session at the mobile device and transferring impending content from the host server the mobile device to pre-cache content on the mobile device to support predicted data activity for the future activity session that has been predicted.

Prediction of activity session for mobile network use optimization and user experience enhancement

Systems and methods for optimizing a polling interval to capture new or changed content at an application server in a wireless network are disclosed. In one aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure include a method, which may be implemented on a system, for polling the application server using a first polling interval, monitoring responses received from the polling of the application server, adjusting the first polling interval to a second polling interval for polling the application server and/or using the second polling interval for polling another resource delivering same or similar content as the application server.

Optimization of resource polling intervals to satisfy mobile device requests

Systems and methods for mobile application traffic optimization are disclosed. In one aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure include a distributed proxy and cache system, including, a local proxy on a mobile device for intercepting a data request made via a mobile device, and a proxy server coupled to the mobile device and a content server to which the data request is directed. In one embodiment, the local proxy can forward the data request to the proxy server for transmission to the content server for a response to the data request. In addition, the proxy server sends the data request to the content server independent of activities on the local proxy and notifies the local proxy when changed or different content on the content server is detected for the data request. One embodiment of the distributed proxy and cache system further includes a cache shared between the local proxy and the proxy server and the component on the local proxy and is queried for a locally stored response to the data request prior to the data request being forwarded on to the proxy server.

Mobile application traffic optimization

A system, method, and computer-readable medium for updating request routing information associated with client location information are provided. A content delivery network service provider receives a DNS query from a client computing device. The DNS query corresponds to a resource identifier for requested content from the client computing device. The content delivery network service provider obtains a query IP address corresponding to the client computing device. Based on routing information associated with the query IP address, the content delivery network service provider routes the DNS query. The process further includes monitoring performance data associated with the transmission of the requested resource and updating routing information associated with the query IP address based on the performance data for use in processing subsequent requests form the client computing device.

Updating routing information based on client location

A method (400) of preloading data on a cache (210) in a local machine (235). The cache (210) is operably coupled to a data store (130), in a remote host machine (240). The method includes the steps of determining a user behaviour profile for the local machine (235); retrieving data relating to the user behaviour profile from the data store (130); and preloading the retrieved data in the cache (210), such that the data is made available to the cache user when desired. A local machine, a host machine, a cache, a communication system and preloading functions are also described. In this manner, data within the cache is maintained and replaced in a substantially optimal manner, and configured to be available to a cache user when it is predicted that the user wishes to access the data.

Method and apparatus for preloading caches

A method of communicating data objects includes the steps of assembling at least one business object by a request server (225) from data held in a data store (230) in a remote information system (240) and storing a corresponding business object in a cache (210) in a local information processing device (235). A business object update message updates data held in the data store (230) or the cache (210). Furthermore, the cache stores at least one business object comprising a plurality of data objects as one retrievable entity.In this manner, business logic may be removed from an application and a cache, thereby making them easier to implement and increase the portability between the cache (210) and different data stores (130). Additionally, an improved cache management communications protocol removes the need for an application to recover from network problems, making the application easier to write.

Methods and system for using caches

A cache (210) for use in a local information processing device (235) and for operably coupling to an application (105) and arranged to store an original request to update an existing data object from said application (105), wherein said cache is characterised in that it is arranged to store a new request to update a data object, which at that time is being used to update a data store (130), as a child request of the original update request. In this manner, transactional integrity of data that is to be modified between an application and a cache is improved.
