Optimal capacitor placement in radial distribution systems using teaching learning based optimization

TL;DR: In this article, a teaching learning based optimization (TLBO) approach is proposed to minimize power loss and energy cost by optimal placement of capacitors in radial distribution systems, where learners improve their knowledge or ability through the teaching methodology of teacher and in second part learners increase their knowledge by interactions among themselves.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multi-objective quasi-oppositional teaching learning based optimization for optimal location of distributed generator in radial distribution systems

TL;DR: A novel quasi-oppositional teaching learning based optimization (QOTLBO) methodology in order to find the optimal location of distributed generator to simultaneously optimize power loss, voltage stability index and voltage deviation of radial distribution network is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oppositional teaching learning based optimization approach for combined heat and power dispatch

TL;DR: Through the simulation of MATLAB programming it is seen that OTLBO provides better results than all other optimization techniques at less computational time.
Journal ArticleDOI

Krill herd algorithm for optimal location of distributed generator in radial distribution system

TL;DR: A new, efficient and novel krill herd algorithm (KHA) method for solving the optimal DG allocation problem of distribution networks and simulation results indicate that installing DG in the optimal location can significantly reduce the power loss of distributed power system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oppositional krill herd algorithm for optimal location of capacitor with reconfiguration in radial distribution system

TL;DR: KH algorithm to find optimal location of capacitor and optimal reconfiguration in order to minimize real power loss of radial distribution systems and results show that OKH technique could generate better quality solutions and better convergence characteristics than those obtained by conventional KH algorithm and other existing optimization techniques available in the literature.
