Simulation of proppant transport with gravitational settling and fracture closure in a three-dimensional hydraulic fracturing simulator

TL;DR: In this article, a three-dimensional hydraulic fracturing simulator is used to investigate the effect of proppant settlement due to gravity, tip screen-out, and fracture closure, including a nonlinear joint closure law expressing fracture compliance and roughness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal breakthrough calculations to optimize design of a multiple-stage Enhanced Geothermal System

TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed an optimization and sensitivity analysis for design of an EGS with horizontal wells and multiple fracturing stages, and they showed that stimulating with multiple stages greatly improves economic performance, delays thermal breakthrough, and allows a higher flow rate to be circulated through the system.
