Machine Learning is the study of methods for programming computers to learn. Computers are applied to a wide range of tasks, and for most of these it is relatively easy for programmers to design and implement the necessary software. However, there are many tasks for which this is difficult or impossible. These can be divided into four general categories. First, there are problems for which there exist no human experts. For example, in modern automated manufacturing facilities, there is a need to predict machine failures before they occur by analyzing sensor readings. Because the machines are new, there are no human experts who can be interviewed by a programmer to provide the knowledge necessary to build a computer system. A machine learning system can study recorded data and subsequent machine failures and learn prediction rules. Second, there are problems where human experts exist, but where they are unable to explain their expertise. This is the case in many perceptual tasks, such as speech recognition, hand-writing recognition, and natural language understanding. Virtually all humans exhibit expert-level abilities on these tasks, but none of them can describe the detailed steps that they follow as they perform them. Fortunately, humans can provide machines with examples of the inputs and correct outputs for these tasks, so machine learning algorithms can learn to map the inputs to the outputs. Third, there are problems where phenomena are changing rapidly. In finance, for example, people would like to predict the future behavior of the stock market, of consumer purchases, or of exchange rates. These behaviors change frequently, so that even if a programmer could construct a good predictive computer program, it would need to be rewritten frequently. A learning program can relieve the programmer of this burden by constantly modifying and tuning a set of learned prediction rules. Fourth, there are applications that need to be customized for each computer user separately. Consider, for example, a program to filter unwanted electronic mail messages. Different users will need different filters. It is unreasonable to expect each user to program his or her own rules, and it is infeasible to provide every user with a software engineer to keep the rules up-to-date. A machine learning system can learn which mail messages the user rejects and maintain the filtering rules automatically. Machine learning addresses many of the same research questions as the fields of statistics, data mining, and psychology, but with differences of emphasis. Statistics focuses on understanding the phenomena that have generated the data, often with the goal of testing different hypotheses about those phenomena. Data mining seeks to find patterns in the data that are understandable by people. Psychological studies of human learning aspire to understand the mechanisms underlying the various learning behaviors exhibited by people (concept learning, skill acquisition, strategy change, etc.).

Machine learning

Breast cancer is one of the common malignancies among females in Saudi Arabia and has also been ranked as the one most prevalent and the number two killer disease in the country. However, the clinical diagnosis process of any disease such as breast cancer, coronary artery diseases, diabetes, COVID-19, among others, is often associated with uncertainty due to the complexity and fuzziness of the process. In this work, a fuzzy neural network expert system with an improved gini index random forest-based feature importance measure algorithm for early diagnosis of breast cancer in Saudi Arabia was proposed to address the uncertainty and ambiguity associated with the diagnosis of breast cancer and also the heavier burden on the overlay of the network nodes of the fuzzy neural network system that often happens due to insignificant features that are used to predict or diagnose the disease. An Improved Gini Index Random Forest-Based Feature Importance Measure Algorithm was used to select the five fittest features of the diagnostic wisconsin breast cancer database out of the 32 features of the dataset. The logistic regression, support vector machine, k-nearest neighbor, random forest, and gaussian naïve bayes learning algorithms were used to develop two sets of classification models. Hence, the classification models with full features (32) and models with the 5 fittest features. The two sets of classification models were evaluated, and the results of the evaluation were compared. The result of the comparison shows that the models with the selected fittest features outperformed their counterparts with full features in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, and sensitivity. Therefore, a fuzzy neural network based expert system was developed with the five selected fittest features and the system achieved 99.33% accuracy, 99.41% sensitivity, and 99.24% specificity. Moreover, based on the comparison of the system developed in this work against the previous works that used fuzzy neural network or other applied artificial intelligence techniques on the same dataset for diagnosis of breast cancer using the same dataset, the system stands to be the best in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity, respectively. The z test was also conducted, and the test result shows that there is significant accuracy achieved by the system for early diagnosis of breast cancer.

Fuzzy Neural Network Expert System with an Improved Gini Index Random Forest-Based Feature Importance Measure Algorithm for Early Diagnosis of Breast Cancer in Saudi Arabia

YouTube is a boon, and through it people can educate, entertain, and express themselves about various topics. YouTube India currently has millions of active users. As there are millions of active users it can be understood that the data present on the YouTube will be large. With India being a very diverse country, many people are multilingual. People express their opinions in a code-mix form. Code-mix form is the mixing of two or more languages. It has become a necessity to perform Sentiment Analysis on the code-mix languages as there is not much research on Indian code-mix language data. In this paper, Sentiment Analysis (SA) is carried out on the Marglish (Marathi + English) as well as Devanagari Marathi comments which are extracted from the YouTube API from top Marathi channels. Several machine-learning models are applied on the dataset along with 3 different vectorizing techniques. Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) with Count vectorizer provides the best accuracy of 62.68% on the Marglish dataset and Bernoulli Naive Bayes along with the Count vectorizer, which gives accuracy of 60.60% on the Devanagari dataset. Multilayer Perceptron and Bernoulli Naive Bayes are considered to be the best performing algorithms. 10-fold cross-validation and statistical testing was also carried out on the dataset to confirm the results.

Opinion-Mining on Marglish and Devanagari Comments of YouTube Cookery Channels Using Parametric and Non-Parametric Learning Models

In the past few years, there has been an astounding rise in the number of mobile app analytical firms where the developers and innovation teams have been gauging their entire focus onto bringing in more advancements in the field of data analytics, and thereby collaborate their own solutions to conduct competitive analysis or market research to understand customers. This can also help the firms in understanding various notable features like ranking, reviews, current price and how these have key roles in building the monetization of apps under question. The main idea is to track mobile apps and user interaction within the apps. The baseline of this research is to get valuable insights regarding the entire data extraction process being used for analysing the app-centric metrics and predict user ratings on the basis of it. We have implemented deep learning models on our refined dataset to study the various intricate details of the underlying data. We implemented few machine learning techniques like Naive Bayes, XGBoost as well as a deep learning classifier and MLP, and further implemented functional layers of Keras for combining all the features of mobile apps like text reviews and numerical features like installations, the total number of reviews and categorical columns, like broad app categories or user ratings. We evaluated the performance of these algorithms using the metrics of accuracy and area under the receiver operator characteristic (ROC).

Sentiment Analysis on Google Play Store Data Using Deep Learning

Smart Farming (SF) is an emerging technology in the current agricultural landscape. The aim of Smart Farming is to provide tools for various agricultural and farming operations to improve yield by reducing cost, waste, and required manpower. SF is a data-driven approach that can mitigate losses that occur due to extreme weather conditions and calamities. The influx of data from various sensors, and the introduction of information communication technologies (ICTs) in the field of farming has accelerated the implementation of disruptive technologies (DTs) such as machine learning and big data. Application of these predictive and innovative tools in agriculture is crucial for handling unprecedented conditions such as climate change and the increasing global population. In this study, we review the recent advancements in the field of Smart Farming, which include novel use cases and projects around the globe. An overview of the challenges associated with the adoption of such technologies in their respective regions is also provided. A brief analysis of the general sentiment towards Smart Farming technologies is also performed by manually annotating YouTube comments and making use of the pattern library. Preliminary findings of our study indicate that, though there are several barriers to the implementation of SF tools, further research and innovation can alleviate such risks and ensure sustainability of the food supply. The exploratory sentiment analysis also suggests that most digital users are not well-informed about such technologies.

Sentiment Analysis (SA) can be carried out on the reviews, feedbacks, discussions available on the web. There has been extensive research carried out on SA in the English language, but data on the web also contains different other languages which should be analyzed.
