Characteristics, Outcome, and Care of Stroke Associated With Atrial Fibrillation in Europe Data From a Multicenter Multinational Hospital–Based Registry (The European Community Stroke Project)
Maria Lamassa,Antonio Di Carlo,Giovanni Pracucci,Anna Maria Basile,Gloria Trefoloni,Paola Vanni,Stefano Spolveri,Maria Cristina Baruffi,Giancarlo Landini,Augusto Ghetti,Charles D.A. Wolfe,Domenico Inzitari +11 more
TL;DR: Stroke associated with atrial fibrillation has a poor prognosis in terms of death and function and prevention and care of stroke with AF is a major challenge for European health systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence and Determinants of Poststroke Dementia as Defined by an Informant Interview Method in a Hospital-Based Stroke Registry
Domenico Inzitari,A. Di Carlo,Giovanni Pracucci,Maria Lamassa,Paola Vanni,M. Romanelli,Stefano Spolveri,P. Adriani,I. Meucci,Giancarlo Landini,Augusto Ghetti +10 more
TL;DR: In a hospital-based nonselected series of stroke survivors, despite the use of a method with low sensitivity for defining dementia, this study confirms that dementia is a frequent sequela of stroke and is mainly predicted by stroke severity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vascular Risk Factors Linked to Multiple Lacunar Infarcts
Stefano Spolveri,Maria Cristina Baruffi,Carlo Cappelletti,Francesco Semerano,Stefania Rossi,Giovanni Pracucci,Domenico Inzitari +6 more
TL;DR: In patients with first-ever minor stroke, the risk factor profile differs according to the evidence of SLI or MLI on the CT scan, and patients with SLI seem more similar to those with NLI than those with MLI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complexity in internal medicine wards: A novel screening method and implications for management.
Fabrizio Bandini,Stefano Guidi,Silvia Blaszczyk,Antonietta Fumarulo,Michela Pierini,Paolo Pratesi,Stefano Spolveri,Margherita Padeletti,Pasquale Petrone,Paolo Zoppi,Giancarlo Landini +10 more
TL;DR: The results show that using a simple screening method based on both objective and subjective criteria is possible to identify complex patients within IM wards and that every day, about one-third of the patients are complex.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct oral anticoagulants in the early phase of non valvular atrial fibrillation-related acute ischemic stroke: focus on real life studies
Luca Masotti,Elisa Grifoni,Alessandro Dei,Vieri Vannucchi,Federico Moroni,Grazia Panigada,Stefano Spolveri,Giancarlo Landini +7 more
TL;DR: The real life evidence suggests that early starting of DOACs in patients with NVAF-related AIS is safe and associated with low recurrence risk and all-cause mortality.
