A percolation sewage treatment plant has one or more pre-clarification tanks (1), a percolation tank (3) with packing material (2) and a post-clarification tank (4). An inlet pipe (5) brings the waste water to the pre-clarification tank, and a second pipe (6) transfers it to the percolation tank. The post-clarification tank has an outlet pipe (7), and a return pipe (8) leads from the outlet section of the percolation tank back to the pre-clarification tank. The novel feature is that a buffer space (9) is provided downstream of the percolation tank. From this space the water returns to the pre-clarification tank via the pipe (8) or to the percolation tank via a return pipe (10). Also claimed is procedure for operating this plant, in which the liquid leaving the percolation material (2) is collected in the buffer space and is periodically returned in part to the percolation chamber. Once a required minimum liquid level in the buffer space has been reached liquid is delivered from the buffer space to the post-clarification tank. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in sewage treatment esp. for e.g. individual dwellings, hotels etc.. The construction of the plant is simple and it provides reliable and effective waste water treatment even in the case of varying water flow rates.

A small-scale water treatment plant has a container (12) for granular droplet bed (58) over a plastic sump (60) and a pump which returns water from the sump to the bed. The sump especially has a collection chamber (68) to which it is linked by a constricted apertures (84) in the container wall (66). The collector chamber has a float-regulated pump. The apertures are located in the lower part of the wall (66). The concrete container (12) is cylindrical and surrounds a ring-shaped droplet bed (58). The pump discharges to a vertical pipe upwards running outside the container wall, and discharging at the top to a T-sprinkler (72).

Clarification installation with a trickle filter system

The invention discloses a multi-point water inlet type trickling filter reactor. The reactor comprises a reactor body, a water inlet device and a backflow device, wherein the water inlet device and the backflow device are arranged outside the reactor body, an inner cavity of the reactor body is partitioned into multiple reaction zones from top to bottom through partition plates provided with holes, the corresponding reaction zone at each layer is filled with filter materials and provided with an air outlet, the top of the corresponding reaction zone at each layer serves as a water distributing zone, and each water distributing zone is provided with a corresponding spray hole; the water inlet device comprises a main water inlet pipe and subsidiary water inlet pipes; the backflow device comprises a main backflow pipe and subsidiary backflow pipes corresponding to the reaction zones of all layers; a water outlet of the main water inlet pipe, a water outlet of each subsidiary water inlet pipe, a water outlet in the top of the main backflow pipe and the part, located between every two adjacent subsidiary backflow pipes, of the main backflow pipe are each configured with a control valve. The multi-point water inlet type trickling filter reactor has the advantages that the water inlet and backflow operation conditions can be adjusted and controlled in real time according to the sewage yield, water quality and the treatment progress which water treatment is expected to reach, operation is flexible, and the tolerance of the reactor against high load impact is improved.

In a treatment plant for wastewater, there are provided, in a shared housing 2, a chamber 3 for a trickling filter 4, a final clarification tank 10 and, separated from these by a wall 15, a pump chamber 5. In the final clarification tank 10 which is disposed immediately under the chamber 3 for the trickling filter 4, there is provided a pump 25 from which there departs a line 26 which leads to a digestion chamber which is connected upstream of the trickling filter 4. From the final clarification tank 10 wastewater flows through an overflow 17 in the wall 15 into the pump chamber 5. In the pump chamber 5 there is provided a pump 28 from which a line 29 departs which leads to a soil filter chamber. In this line 29 is provided a three-way valve 30 from which a pipe branch 31 departs which ends above the trickling filter 4.
