Development and experimental validation of a numerical model for the prediction of ground vibration generated by pavement breaking

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact load due to a single blow of a falling weight pavement breaker is estimated by means of a simplified model of the hammer, the pavement, and the underlying soil.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Application of Surface Waves for the Geotechnical Characterisation of Dykes

TL;DR: In this article, the multichannel analysis of surface waves method (MASW) was used to determine elastic soil properties and aims to extend its application field to dyke and dam structures.

Prediction of ground vibrations generated by a falling-weight pavement breaker

TL;DR: In this article, a numerical model for the estimation of the impact load due to the blow of a falling-weight pavement breaker is first developed, which accounts for both road-soil separation as well as the inelastic behaviou r of the soil.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acoustic Emission Analysis of Fracture and Size Effect in Cementitious Mortars

TL;DR: In this paper , the impact of size effect with the acoustic emission (AE) technique was investigated on cement-based mortar cylinders of three sizes, and it was found that in addition to the size, the boundary condition affects the final strength.
