SUMMARY
In this paper, five conventional LNG processes were investigated by energy and exergy analysis methods. On the basis of the energy analysis, three-stage process of Linde AG and Stat oil (mixed fluid cascade [MFC]) has less energy consumption than the other ones (0.254 kWh/kg liquefied natural gas). Also, coefficient of performance of the cycles of this process is higher compared with the other ones. Exergy analysis results showed that the maximum exergy efficiency is related to the MFC process (51.82%). However, performance of the MFC process in terms of quality and quantity of energy consumption is considerable. But using three cycles in this process needs more components and consequently more fixed costs. In this study, sensitivity of coefficient of performance, specific energy consumption, and indexes of exergy analysis were also analyzed versus important operating variables for all cases. Energy and exergy analyses of five conventional liquefied natural gas processes

This invention relates to a process for liquefying a gas stream rich in methane and having a pressure above about 3103 kPa (450 psia). The gas stream is expanded to a lower pressure to produce a gas phase and a liquid product having a temperature above about -112° C. (-170° F.) and a pressure sufficient for the liquid product to be at or below its bubble point. The gas phase and the liquid product are then phase separated in a suitable separator, and the liquid product is introduced to a storage means for storage at a temperature above about -112° C. (-170° F.).

Process for the recovery of components heavier than methane from natural gas, wherein the process comprises (a) cooling a natural gas feed to provide a cooled natural gas feed and introducing the cooled natural gas feed into an absorber column at a first location therein; (b) withdrawing from the absorber column a first overhead vapor stream depleted in components heavier than methane and a bottoms stream enriched in components heavier than methane; (c) introducing a methane-rich reflux stream at a second location in the absorber column above the first location; (d) separating the bottoms stream into a stream enriched in methane and one or more streams enriched in components heavier than ethane; and (e) introducing an absorber liquid comprising components heavier than ethane into the absorber column at a location between the first location and the second location.

Integrated high pressure NGL recovery in the production of liquefied natural gas

Provided is a method for liquefying natural gas which can be readily adapted to LNG plants of all sizes without requiring expensive and special heat exchangers. The liquefaction of feed gas of natural gas and recycle natural gas is carried out with a single-component refrigerant or a mixed refrigerant in a high temperature stage, and with a substantially isentropic expansion in a low temperature stage, and a non-liquefied part of the recycle gas after the expansion step is pressurized with a compressor and recycled along with a recycle stream of non-liquefied par of the feed natural gas, the liquefied part by the refrigerant exchanging heat with the non-liquefied part stream produced from the substantially isentropic expansion, in a plate-fin heat exchanger or the like. The compressor is driven by the power obtained by the substantially isentropic expansion.

Method for liquefying natural gas

A system for liquefying and subcooling natural gas wherein compression power is shifted off the closed cycle refrigerant by subcooling the liquid natural gas to a relatively warm exit temperature and subsequently reducing the pressure and flashing the liquefied natural gas to recover a gaseous phase natural gas in excess of plant fuel requirements, the excess being recompressed and recycled to the feed to the process.

Double mixed refrigerant liquefaction process for natural gas
