Journal ArticleDOI

Some aspects of the use of "continuous" and "discontinuous" buffer systems in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

TL;DR: Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in discontinuous buffer systems often gives very narrow zones, but it would indicate that the resolving power is independent of whether a continuous or discontinuousbuffer system is used, provided that the starting zone is sharpened to the same width in the two systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrophoretic "particle sieving" in polyacrylamide gels as applied to ribosomes.

TL;DR: Polyacrylamide gels can be used for “electrophoretic sieving” of intracellular particles and are demonstrated by a separation of 30 S and 50 S ribosomes of E. coli on an analytical as well as on a small preparative scale.
Journal ArticleDOI

Apparatus for large-scale preparative polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis

TL;DR: The apparatus is manufactured by LKB-Produkter AB, Stockholm, Sweden, and the resolution is close to that obtained in analytical gel electrophoresis runs.
Journal ArticleDOI

“Particle-sieve” electrophoresis of viruses in polyacrylamide gels, exemplified by purification of turnip yellow mosaic virus

TL;DR: Turnip yellow mosaic virus has been purified by electrophoretic “particle-sieving” in a polyacrylamide gel by applying this technique to fractionation of viruses.
