Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a computing paradigm to develop smart applications such e-health care systems, smart city, smart waste management systems, etc. It contains a large number of different devices and heterogeneous networks, which make it difficult to provide secure and fast response to the end user. To provide the faster response services, there is a need to use the concept of Fog computing Recently, the use of fog computing is a rapidly increasing in many industries for the development of applications such as manufacturing, e-health, oil and gas, As more and more users have started to store/process their real-time data in Fog-based Cloud environments, resource provisioning and scheduling of IoT based applications becomes a key element of consideration for efficient execution of these applications. This article will help to select the most suitable technique for processing smart IoT based applications in Fog computing environments.

Resource Provisioning and Scheduling Techniques of IoT Based Applications in Fog Computing

Smart waste collection is necessary step of smart waste management to smart our cities. Dustbins are the first step of any WMS (Waste management system). To make smart waste management system we should have smart Dustbins. The IoT has involved in entire areas of humanoid, exertion, strength as well as the social area, which significantly affect the possible development of the global financial community. The emerging technology of Internet of things can be use to improve our waste collection system. In this paper, we are proposing a smart waste bin to make the smart waste collection system. This Smart Bin will be use on single location or also on moving collection truck. The smart bin contains a group of sensor that collects all the data from Bin for real - time status of Bin. This will result in effective waste collection, reducing pollution, reducing health threats and carbon.

Survey on IOT Based Smart Waste Bin

In the past few decades, the rapid growth of the urbanization rate has taken place, and therefore, plans for sustainable urban planning are required. Using new technologies and a strategic approach, the concept of smart cities is approaching the whole world. A smart city is not built without a smart waste management system. In this article, our model describes the application of “solar-assisted smart solid waste dustbin” for the management of the solid waste system of the city. In our model, the volume of solid wastes has been drastically reduced compared to the conventional process. It reduces the cost of transportation and reduces the odor of waste. First of all, organic waste is ground by grinders and, at the same time, the humidity content is heated to reduce the weight of the waste. Compressors will then compress, and finally, compressed waste materials are stored in the storage unit. The control system is run by solar energy, and the systems are semi-automated. In addition, rented materials are collected by bin to be used for agricultural purposes. Today’s traditional bins will be able to efficiently manage these wastes as they waste their waste on the road, and it may cause insects and mosquito breeding. Dismantling in dirty environments also causes serious illness. It controls through solar energy and is a semi-automatic system; by doing this, we can change the contaminated environment.

Solar-Assisted Smart Solid Waste Dustbin

Waste transportation is a serious issue in Indonesia since there is not enough information provided to the workers as to which trash bins are full and not picked up. A full trash bin that has not been picked up can cause many problems such as scattered waste and cause smells that might cause various diseases. Therefore, in this research, a Smart Bin is developed that adopts an Internet of Things (IoT) system for improving waste management and monitoring in real-time. The suggested system utilizes the smell, weight, and height sensors of a trash bin and uses a priority scale on the trash bin condition, and provides information to the waste transportation officer in real-time. When the waste reaches a certain height, weight, or smell level, the system will notify the workers and also the trash bin owners.

IoT-Based Smart Bin Using Smell, Weight, And Height Sensors

Illegal waste dumping activities are becoming more compulsive and are in fact, one of the most daunting worldwide issue today. The impacts of this activity are devastating to the environmental and human health. To prevent illegal waste dumping, sufficient waste treatment facilities, for instance roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) waste containers must be placed strategically for community use. However, the result would not be significant without an efficient waste monitoring system. Hence, an integration of IoT-based sensors and mobile apps are proposed with the objectives of providing real-time information of waste fill level, RoRo waste container geolocation and waste decomposition level to users by uploading the sensor data wirelessly to a globally accessible domain. An Arduino UNO is chosen as the microcontroller for the application. Multiple HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensors are used to measure the waste pile level at different point in the RoRo waste container, hence the fill level; NEO-6M GPS module is used to measure GPS location; MQ-3 ethanol gas sensor is used to measure ethanol gas concentration, hence the decomposition level; ESP8266 ESP-01 Wi-Fi module is used for wireless transmission of sensor data to a website. Windows 10 and Android applications are developed successfully as a platform to display the real-time information of the RoRo bins. To sum up, this research is a good approach against the illegal dumping issue as it provides the users an alternative way to dispose bulky wastes legally and conveniently.

Smart IoT-based Waste Monitoring System

In this paper, we describe the formatting guidelines for IJCA Journal Submission Nowadays, waste management has become a major problem in life cycle. It includes the collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste, together with monitoring and regulation of the waste management process. The significant cause of waste management is brisk growth in the rate of urbanization and thus there is a need of proper planning. To avoid all such harmful scenarios and maintain public cleanliness and health, we intend to propose a solution for this problem “Smart Bin” which will focus on resolving this problem. This process will alarm and notify the authorized person through a software when the garbage bin is about to fill. This system pivots around the overflowing bins and keeping the areas clean.
