The objective of this paper is to identify patterns in the literature on the use of key performance indicators (KPI) and multicriteria decision-making models (MCDM/A) in the analysis of renewable energy technologies (RET). An integrated approach to bibliometric and systematic review is conducted to identify the research opportunity and the current state of the art on the subject. The results of this study pointed out: (i) the use of synthesis models rather than overlap models; (ii) the relevance of adding policy and technical indicators beyond those related to the Triple Bottom Line in decision-making; (iii) the important role of MCDM/A models in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals present in the 2030 United Nations Agenda. Also, this paper describes a guide for future research in the field of the MCDM/A approach in Renewable Energy Technology from a sustainable development perspective.

Future computing (FC) is a technology of real-world Internet of things on cloud computing with respect to IT convergence that has emerged rapidly as an exciting new industry and life paradigm. Future computing is being used to encompass the cloud, big data, and cloud data centers that are the megatrends of the computing industry. This technology is making a new future market that is different from the past and is evolving toward gradually eroding the existing market. Internet of things is a vast and dynamic territory and is evolving at a rapid pace. The realization of the Internet of things vision brings ICT technologies closer to many aspects of real-world facing serious issues such as global warming, environment protection, and energy saving on cloud computing. Advanced technologies in sensing, processing, communication, and services are leading to IoT service in our life such as industry, army, and life paradigms on cloud computing environment. There might be many issues to realize and provide smart services, andmuch effort and enormous attention have been focused on Internet of things on cloud computing technologies. Theoretical research contributions presenting advanced technologies, concepts, or analyses, reports on experiences and experiments of implementation and application of theories, and tutorials on new trends should be needed on this research fields. For the aforementioned reasons, the special issue intends to give an overview of the state of the art of issues and solution guidelines for the FC services with IT convergence.

Measuring the interdisciplinarity of Information and Library Science interactions using citation analysis and semantic analysis

Government laws and regulations are a key component to the technological changes taking place and the competitiveness and innovation experienced by Kenya's telecommunications industry. The high competition in the sector has meant that there is a need for stricter government laws and regulations that every player must observe to remain in the market. Open democratic space allows entry and exit of market players as long as the current laws are followed to the letter. This study's main objective was to explore the effect of government laws and regulations on the competitive advantage of telecommunication companies in Kenya. Using a positivist philosophy, the study adopted a descriptive research design in testing the hypothesis to establish the relationship between government laws and regulations and the competitive advantage in telecommunications companies in Kenya. The main instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire targeting 26 licensed telecommunications companies in Kenya. Data from the field was sampled using the proportionate methodology, with a sample of 247 managers responding. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were applied for this study and processed through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The null hypothesis was tested using multiple regression analysis with two linear regression models through factor analysis and ANOVA. Presentation of results through percentages, standard deviation, mean, and frequencies provided a background for discussion, conclusions, and recommendations. The study results observed that government laws and regulations statistically influence the competitive advantage of telecommunications companies in Kenya (β = .273, t = 4.740, p<.05). This led to the study concluding that government laws and regulations influence the competitive advantage of telecommunications companies in Kenya. The study recommends further research to compare local laws and regulations against regional or global ones influencing competitive advantage in the telecommunications industry.

The chapter focuses on post-implementation evaluation and examination of policy, determining its effectiveness and efficiency and determining whether new policy or modifications to existing policy are necessary. This evaluation assesses the impact of policy and the tools used to implement it. It employs many of the methods used in pre-implementation policy analysis but measures actual performance of the policies against previously relied upon beliefs and projections. The chapter explores learned examination of policy, provides an overview of contemporary policy studies literature and discusses how different methods are employed to undertake such examinations.

Policy Evaluation and Policy Examination

In an attempt to develop an understanding of existing research trends and to inform the development of new research in the field of telecommunications, literature reviews are being conducted. As an effort for investigating research trend, our research suggests the application of a text mining analysis technique to identify the knowledge structures of academic research in the field of telecommunications policy and to pinpoint future research opportunities. In this study, three analytical techniques were employed: a productivity analysis; a contents analysis based on topic modeling and word co-occurrence; and an author co-citation analysis based on a hierarchical clustering algorithm, multidimensional scaling, and a factor analysis. The findings from the research productivity analysis imply that the journal ‘Telecommunications Policy’ has greatly contributed to the publication of studies related to telecommunications policy. Moreover, our research institution analysis results indicate that telecommunication policy studies are undertaken by experts in various research fields. The contents and citation analysis results demonstrate that many studies related to telecommunications policy cover infrastructure-related topics, including the design, arrangement, and distribution of telecommunications networks. By contrast, recent studies are found to focus on the privacy and digital divide issues that may arise in connection with the application of telecommunications networks to other information technologies or industrial areas. However, the area of policy research that focuses on the application of information technologies still concentrates on the methods for the application of existing services—such as broadcasting and multimedia—without paying sufficient attention to the policy issues that may arise from the application of cloud computing, the Internet of Things, or big data analytics, services that have emerged with the recent expansion of wireless communications networks. In this sense, there is a need for discussions about the policies to respond to the increasing use of radio frequencies owing to the expansion of the Internet of Things, and to promote the efficient and safe control of data transmitted in real time on the wireless Internet. Studies of new technologies in the telecommunications policy field should be carried out in view of local and national characteristics. At the same time, further studies should consider efficient and reasonable ways to export telecommunications and networking technologies to countries that seek to invest in or expand their telecommunications networks to new information technologies. Expanding on this research, more text mining techniques for analyzing large amounts of text data and for clustering and visualizing them need to be considered.
