Journal ArticleDOI
Effective medicinal plants against enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157:H7.
Supayang Piyawan Voravuthikunchai,Amornrat Lortheeranuwat,Wanpen Jeeju,Trechada Sririrak,Souwalak Phongpaichit,Thanomjit Supawita +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the stimulating effect of subinhibitory concentrations of antibiotics on the production of verocytotoxin (VT) by enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) O157:H7 was claimed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rhodomyrtone: A new candidate as natural antibacterial drug from Rhodomyrtus tomentosa
Surasak Limsuwan,Erik N. Trip,Thijs R. H. M. Kouwen,Sjouke Piersma,Asadhawut Hiranrat,Wilawan Mahabusarakam,Supayang Piyawan Voravuthikunchai,Jan Maarten van Dijl,Oliver Kayser +8 more
TL;DR: The results support the view that rhodomyrtone has a strong bactericidal activity on gram-positive bacteria, including major pathogens.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activity of medicinal plant extracts against hospital isolates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus
TL;DR: Nine medicinal plants displayed activity against all isolates tested, and Ethanolic extracts of Garcinia mangostana, Punica granatum and Quercus infectoria were most effective, with MICs for MRSA isolates of 0.05-0.2 and 0.1 mg/mL, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibitory Effects of Active Compounds from Punica granatum Pericarp on Verocytotoxin Production by Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157 : H7
Supayang Piyawan Voravuthikunchai,Treechada Sririrak,Surasak Limsuwan,Thanomjit Supawita,Tetsuya Iida,Takeshi Honda +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the antibacterial activity of extracts from P. granatum pericarp against different strains of enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157 : H7 and other strains of E. coli were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activity of Gallidermin on Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis Biofilms
Jongkon Saising,Linda Dube,Anne-Kathrin Ziebandt,Supayang Piyawan Voravuthikunchai,Mulugeta Nega,Friedrich Götz +5 more
TL;DR: Gallidermin inhibits not only the growth of staphylococci in a dose-dependent manner but also efficiently prevents biofilm formation by both species and shows only limited activity on cells within mature biofilms.
