Bone Loss after Initiation of Androgen Deprivation Therapy in Patients with Prostate Cancer
Susan L. Greenspan,Penelope S. Coates,Susan M. Sereika,Joel B. Nelson,Donald L. Trump,Neil M. Resnick +5 more
TL;DR: Men with prostate cancer who are initiating ADT have a 5- to 10-fold increased loss of bone density at multiple skeletal sites compared with either healthy controls or men with prostatecancer who are not on ADT, placing them at increased risk of fracture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Health-related quality of life in chronic disorders: a comparison across studies using the MOS SF-36.
Elizabeth A. Schlenk,Judith A. Erlen,Jacqueline Dunbar-Jacob,Joan McDowell,Sandra Engberg,Susan M. Sereika,Jeffrey M. Rohay,Mary Jane Bernier +7 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that patients with various chronic disorders may have QoL that is lower in most domains compared to a healthy population, however, there may be differences in the domains affected as well as the extent of variation across specific chronic disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adherence in chronic disease.
Jacqueline Dunbar-Jacob,Judith A. Erlen,Elizabeth A. Schlenk,Christopher M. Ryan,Susan M. Sereika,Willa M. Doswell +5 more
TL;DR: The state of knowledge regarding adherence to chronic disease regimens across the life span is reviewed and it is demonstrated that the extent and nature of the adherence problems are similar across diseases, across regimens, and across age groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Catherine M. Bender,Susan M. Sereika,Sarah L. Berga,Victor G. Vogel,Adam Brufsky,Karen K. Paraska,Christopher M. Ryan +6 more
TL;DR: Adjuvant chemotherapy in women with breast cancer can be associated with deteriorations in memory and this may persist over time, and the addition of tamoxifen may lead to more widespread memory deficits.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of electronic self-monitoring on weight loss and dietary intake: a randomized behavioral weight loss trial.
Lora E. Burke,Molly B. Conroy,Susan M. Sereika,Okan U. Elci,Mindi A. Styn,Sushama D. Acharya,Mary Ann Sevick,Mary Ann Sevick,Linda J. Ewing,Karen Glanz +9 more
TL;DR: Using a personal digital assistant with dietary and exercise software, with and without a feedback message, compared to using a paper diary/record, results in greater weight loss and improved self‐monitoring adherence.
