Insulin Detemir Is Associated With More Predictable Glycemic Control and Reduced Risk of Hypoglycemia Than NPH Insulin in Patients With Type 1 Diabetes on a Basal-Bolus Regimen With Premeal Insulin Aspart

TL;DR: Treatment with insulin detemir resulted in more predictable glycemic control, with smoother plasma glucose profiles than NPH insulin and a significant reduction in the risk of hypoglycemia and the reduction in body weight is a potential additional advantage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Insulin detemir used in basal-bolus therapy in people with type 1 diabetes is associated with a lower risk of nocturnal hypoglycaemia and less weight gain over 12 months in comparison to NPH insulin

TL;DR: The aim of this study was to compare the long‐term safety and efficacy of twice‐daily insulin detemir or NPH insulin as the basal component of basal‐bolus therapy in people with type 1 diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Instruments for Self-Monitoring of Blood Glucose: Comparisons of Testing Quality Achieved by Patients and a Technician

TL;DR: The analytical quality of SMBG among patients was poorer than, and could not be predicted from, the performance of the meters in the hands of a technician, and it is suggested that new instruments be tested in thehands of patients who are trained on meter use in a routine way.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predictors of outcome and comparison of different drug regimens for the prevention of relapse in patients with Graves' disease.

TL;DR: Relapse rates of Graves' disease were independent of ATD regimen whether followed by l-T(4) therapy or not, and smoking, large goiter and presence of TRAb at the end of ATd therapy were strong predictors of relapse.
