Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanism of action of purified scorpion toxin on the isolated rat intestine.

TL;DR: Purified scorpion toxin produced contraction of the isolated rat ileum, followed by an increase in the amplitude of pendular movement and rhythmic variation of tonus, which may be due to the release of acetylcholine and substance P. serrulatus.
Book ChapterDOI

Studies on the Mechanism of Action of Tityustoxin

TL;DR: The contraction of the isolated rat ileum produced by purified scorpion toxin (tityustoxin or TsTX) was explained by the release of acetylchohne and probably substance P, whereas the relaxation of the atropine-treated rat duodenum depended on an adrenergic mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of the scorpion toxin on the granular vesicles in the Auerbach's plexus of the rat ileum

TL;DR: It is suggested that granular vesicles contain catecholamines and substance P, and that scorpion toxin by releasing both substances, decreases the number of these vesicle.
