Ammonia removal from wastewater by ion exchange in the presence of organic contaminants.

TL;DR: The results show that in most of the cases studied, the presence of organic compounds enhances the uptake of ammonium ion onto the ion exchangers, and ion exchange offers a number of advantages including the able to handle shock loadings and the ability to operate over a wider range of temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Continuous ion-exchange removal of ammonium ion onto clinoptilolite in the presence of contaminants

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the presence of interfering species, including the organic compounds citric acid, phenol, hexane, glucose, natural sunflower oil and whey protein, on column breakthrough performance was investigated.

Removal of ammonium and organic compounds by ion exchange and adsorption

TL;DR: In this paper, the results showed that phenol, benzoic acid, methanoic, ethanoic and propionic acid were successfully adsorbed on to the activated carbon.
