Environmentally friendly three chitosan Schiff bases (CSBs) were first time synthesized under microwave irradiation by the reaction of chitosan and aldehydes [benzaldehyde (CSB-1), 4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde (CSB-2), and 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde (CSB-3)] and characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy. The corrosion inhibition performance of the synthesized inhibitors was studied by the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization (PDP). The results show that all the Schiff bases (CSBs) act as effective corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in 1 M HCl solution. Among the synthesized Schiff bases, CSB-3 exhibited the maximum inhibition efficiency of 90.65% at a very low concentration of 50 ppm. \n 4-Amino-3-(2-bromo-5-methoxyphenyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-thione (ATH) was synthesized and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance and Fourier-transform infrared as spectroscopical techniques and elemental analysis. ATH was studied for corrosion inhibition of mild steel in corrosive environment by means of weight loss technique, scanning electron microscopy and the adsorption isotherm. ATH demonstrates a superior inhibition efficiency against corrosion of mild steel. Adsorption data fit well to a Langmuir isotherm model.

Synthesis, characterization and gravimetric studies of novel triazole-based compound

The adsorption isotherm model best fit of the methanol leaf extract of Securinega virosa as corrosion inhibitor for the corrosion of mild steel in 2 M HCl medium was determined with the assistance of the Adejo-Ekwenchi adsorption isotherm. The corrosion inhibition study was carried out using the weight loss method at the temperature range of 301 K to 313 K.  The inhibition efficiency, %IE, of the extract was found to increase with increase in both concentration and temperature. On the account of, R 2 this adsorption process well fitted into Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin isotherm, Flory-Huggins and Adejo-Ekwenchi models. However, through the parameter b of the Adejo-Ekwenchi isotherm, which clearly shows the adsorption process to be chemisorption, the best isotherm fit for the extract has been resolved to be the Langmuir isotherm and Temkin isotherm models.
