A model of the mechanism of transport in packed, distended, and fluidized beds

TL;DR: In this paper, an instrumented copper sphere was provided with a small calorimeter which permitted measurements of the local thermal transfer within a packed bed of spheres of uniform diameter, and a boundary layer model based upon the established behavior of thermal and material transfer from single cylinders and spheres in turbulent fluid streams was discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prediction of the transport properties of paraffin hydrocarbons

TL;DR: In this article, the available experimental data on the transport properties of paraffins were subjeted to analysis in terms of the Chapman-Cowling theory for states at low pressure, and the utility of the two-constant “Lennard-Jones ∞-6 (Sutherland), 12-6 and 9-6 potentials, and of the threeconstant Morse and Kihara potentials were explored for predicting the behavior of polyatomic paraffin hydrocarbon gases.
