Novel anionic water-containing inorganic fragment in [4-NH2PyH]8[Bi2Cl11] [Bi2Cl9(H2O)2]: Structural characterization, thermal, dielectric and vibrational properties

Unprecedented solid-state chemical reaction—from . From centrosymmetric to non-centrosymmetric crystal structure

The first monomeric antimony alkoxides, Sb(OC(6)H(3)Me(2))(3) (1) and Sb(OEt)(5) x NH(3) (2), have been crystallographically characterized. The former adopts a trigonal pyramidal geometry, while the latter is octahedral about antimony; hydrogen bonding between NH(3) and SbOEt groups in Sb(OEt)(5) small middle dotNH(3) creates a one-dimensional lattice arrangement. Reaction of pyridine with SbCl(5) in EtOH/hexane yields the salt [Hpy(+)](9)[Sb(2)Cl(11)(5)(-)][Cl(-)](4) (3), which has also been crystallographically characterized. The structure was solved by Patterson methods and refined to a finalR value of 0.023 for 4435 reflections withF

 0). The structure shows a layer arrangement perpendicular to thea axis: planes of the [Sb2Cl11]5− bioctahedra alternate with planes of [NH3(CH2)2NH3]2+ dications. The [Sb2Cl11]5− bioctahedra are connected through O−H...Cl hydrogen bonds, such that infinite chains of composition [Sb2Cl11(H2O]n
 5n− are formed in the structure, parallel to the twofold axis. These chains are themselves interconnected by means of N−H...Cl and O−H...Cl bonds originating from the [NH3(CH2)2NH3]2+ entities and the water molecules, respectively, and form a threedimensional network.
