A lighting apparatus for providing a substantially uniformly illuminated light emitting surface, the apparatus comprising first and second light sources generating flux patterns including light rays that diverge about first and second central light rays, respectively and a light guide member having substantially straight first and second en sections and a curved section, the first end section having a proximal end and a distal end and formed about a first light axis, the second end section having a proximal end and a distal end and formed about a second light axis, the curved section including first and second ends that are linked to the distal ends of the first and second end sections, respectively, the guide forming a front surface and an oppositely facing textured back surface along each of the end sections and the curved section, the curved section forming a bend such that the back surface is concave and the front surface is convex along the curved section length, at least a portion of the back surface tapered toward the first light axis in the direction from the proximal end to the distal end of the first end section, wherein, the first light source is juxtaposed such that the central light ray is directed along the first light axis and the second light source is juxtaposed such that the central light ray is directed along the second light axis.

Light guide and lateral illuminator

A replacement light tube for replacing a fluorescent light tube includes a bulb portion extending between a first end and a second end, the bulb portion comprising a support structure, a plurality of white light emitting diodes (LEDs) and an elongate light-transmissive cover. The support structure has a first surface extending between the first end and the second end. The plurality of LEDs are supported by the first surface and arranged between the first end and the second end. The elongate light-transmissive cover extends between the first end and the second end and over the first surface of the support structure. A first end cap and a second end cap are disposed on the first end and the second end, respectively, each configured to fit with a socket for a fluorescent light tube. A power supply circuit is configured to provide power to the plurality of LEDs. The plurality of LEDs are arranged to emit light through the elongate light-transmissive cover and at least a portion of the power supply circuit is packaged inside at least one of the end caps.

By doping an organic compound functioning as an electron donor (hereinafter referred to as donor molecules) into an organic compound layer contacting a cathode, donor levels can be formed between respective LUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) levels between the cathode and the organic compound layer, and therefore electrons can be injected from the cathode, and transmission of the injected electrons can be performed with good efficiency. Further, there are no problems such as excessive energy loss, deterioration of the organic compound layer itself, and the like accompanying electron movement, and therefore an increase in the electron injecting characteristics and a decrease in the driver voltage can both be achieved without depending on the work function of the cathode material.

Light Emitting Device

A fluorescent light tube retrofit with light emitting diodes (LEDs) that evenly distribute light to avoid bright spots is disclosed. One tube in the form of a conventional fluorescent tube includes two LEDs mounted to the tube on opposite sides of a single circumference of the tube. The LEDs can face the center of the tube, or the LEDs can be offset facing relative to the center of the tube. A reflecting surface can be disposed inside the tube to reflect light evenly toward an arc of the tube. Alternatively, at least one LED can be oriented to direct light into a light pipe that curves around the interior of the tube.

A light-emitting device ( 42, 68, 80, 90 , or 100 ) suitable for a flat-panel CRT display contains a plate ( 54 ), a light-emissive region ( 56 ), a light-blocking region ( 58 ), and a light-reflective layer ( 60 or 70 ). The light-emitting device achieves one or more of the following characteristics by suitably implementing the light-reflective layer or/and providing one or more layers ( 72, 82, 92 , and 100 ) along the light-reflective layer: (a) reduced electron energy loss as electrons pass through the light-reflective layer, (b) gettering along the light-reflective layer, (c) reduced secondary electron emission along the light-reflective layer, (d) reduced electron backscattering along the light-reflective layer, and (e) reduced chemical reactivity along the light-reflective layer.

A linear illumination device of the present invention includes: a guide made of a light transmitting material extending in a first direction, having a side face and at least one end face; at least one light emitter for allowing light to enter interior of the guide from the at least one end face of the guide; and a light diffusing section formed on part of the side face of the guide, for diffusing the light incident thereon, wherein at least part of the light entering the interior of the guide goes out from part of the side face of the guide facing the light diffusing section, thereby providing substantially linear illumination light along the first direction.

Linear illumination device

The present invention relates to a linear beam irradiator, more specifically to a linear beam irradiator for using light conductor, comprising a light conductor having light permeability, a light refraction & reflection area 2 provided on one side face in the longitudinal direction of said light conductor, and a light source 8 provided in a way to cover the light refraction & reflection area 2, as well as a light source disposed at one end or both ends of said light conductor. This construction makes it possible to irradiate a linear light beam from the other side face of the light conductor corresponding to said light refraction & reflection area 2. With this construction, it becomes possible to reduce the deviation of illuminance of said linear light beam, sharply improve the transmission efficiency of light and greatly reduce the number of LED chips disposed at the light source. Moreover, this also enables a cost reduction.

Linear beam irradiator having a varying cross-sectional size

This invention relates to linear light-beam illuminating apparatus, especially relates to the linear light-beam illuminating apparatus using the light-guide. Settle a light refractive-reflective region 2 composed by triangle wave surface on the surface of one lateral in the longitude direction of the lightguide1 with light transmission; and settle the light source in one end or two ends of the above-mentioned light guide 1. By utilizing said structure, illuminate the linear light-beam from another lateral side of the above-mentioned lightguide1 of the light refractive-reflective region 2. The change of the illumination of the above-mentioned linear light-beam could be minimized; the transmission efficiency of the light could be largely elevated, and the number of LED chip allocated in the light source could be largely reduced by utilizing said structure. The result is that the cost is lowered.
