Effect of Spark Plasma Sintering on Densification and Mechanical Properties of Silicon Carbide

TL;DR: In this paper, the spark plasma sintering (SPS) method was used to bring dense silicon carbide ceramics at a sintered temperature of 1800°C, which was about 200°C lower than that of the hot-pressing process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation and mechanical properties of Al2O3-15wt.%ZrO2 composites

TL;DR: In this article, α-alumina powder was mixed with Zr(OH) 4 gel synthesized by a precipitation method, and the resulting gel mixture was calcined at 600 °C for 2 h. Nearly full densification and the maximum bending strength of 932 MPa were achieved for the Al 2 O 3 -15wt.%ZrO 2 composites sintered at 1425 °C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Power Generation of a p‐Type Ca3Co4O9/n‐Type CaMnO3 Module

TL;DR: In this article, a thermoelectric module composed of eight pairs of p-type Ca 2.7 Bi o3 Co 4 O 9 (Co-349) and n-type CAMn 0.98 Mo 0.02 O 3 (Mn-113) bulks was constructed using Ag electrodes and paste including powder of the N-type oxide.
Journal ArticleDOI

Centrifugal casting of Al2O3–15 wt.%ZrO2 ceramic composites

TL;DR: Aqueous ceramic slurries with different solid contents (60, 70 and 78 wt%) were prepared by mixing 85 wt.% ZrO 2 (3 mol% Y 2 O 3 ) in distilled water and a small amount of poly-carboxylic ammonium as the dispersion agent as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Usefulness of Spark Plasma Sintering on Densification and Mechanical Properties of Alumina Whisker/Zirconia Composites

TL;DR: In this article, a spark plasma sintering (SPS) was used to produce zirconia matrix composites reinforced with 20vol% α-alumina whiskers.
